You don't have to be around the ball to make an impact as a CB, your impact can be the ball not going in your area. Revis made an impact every play just by being there.
This is actually a good comparision and very similar. Ray shut down the running game when it came his way and they weren't targeting him with specific linemen. Revis shuts down the passing game on his side of the football field. Neither could shut down the running or passing game completely on their own but their contribution forced the other team to play away from them.
