I'll try to think of some recent ones, but Atari Bigby is one with relevance to us now. He's been the starter in Green Bay since 07, I believe. Maybe 06. Bigby reminded me. I believe Ryan Grant was on the Giants' PS before going to the Packers.
Did you even proof read that? No Gonzalez? Did you mean to imply that Hartsock is? No. They're basically a younger and older version of the same player.... In Short Yardage, Hunter is going to be your guy anyway. In normal down and distance, you have far too many other players that are more skilled to get Hartsock on the field. (e.g. after week 4, are you really going to stick Hartsock out there enough to justify the spot, with Edwards, Holmes, Cotchery, Connor, Keller, Hunter, Cumberland, Mulligan on the roster????) Not likely.
Gilbert will get back into 3-4 end shape and let's see what he has with a far shot by the end of the year or next spring, suprised the Bears gave-up sso quickly on such a high pick. 6-6 yo tall for DT.
I don't really feel like looking it up, but Jimmy Smith AND Keenan McCardell, I think, too. SPeaking of RBs, what about Danny Ware and Derrick Ward - on OUR ps. And finally, Mulligan's hands aren't THAT bad, he made a nice catch against philly.
The PS is a good spot for him, he'll need time to get the weight back up if he actually was down to 270.
I didn't include them because Ward was a one year 'wonder' and Ware hasn't made a big impact either. Grant and Bigby are starters. I'll have to check on McCardell. I don't know where he was even drafted or if he was. I think Smith was a Day One pick, though.
I personally never bought the hype on this board but getting him for pretty much free to go on the PS is excellent. At least take the chance on the promise and upside.....
Yeah, I proofread it. Westy said "you're no Gonzalez" in the same way I might look at a 300 lb. down syndrome girl and say "you're no supermodel." It means Mulligan can't play tight end for shit. What he can do is hit somebody really hard on kickoffs and punts. "That's what you need to hang your hat on. That's what you're good at, forget all that other stuff," said Westhoff. Basically, Westhoff was telling Mulligan, "you're jack shit as a tight end, but you're a solid special teams player, so just concentrate on the special teams." Matt Mulligan is a wedge buster. More power to him, but that's his position right now. Interesting stat about the expendable Mr. Hartsock: In the past four seasons, the four teams Hartsock played on have finished in the top five in rushing. Tennessee was number five in 2006 and 2007, Atlanta was number two in 2008 and the Jets were number one last year.
How interesting... he's not expendable either way, but thats just an interesting stat, how much of that is coincidence? I have to figure most of it, hartsock's blocking clearly helps, but its not like he is the best blocker in the league or anything
Well... I guess you could argue Travis Henry, Michael Turner and Thomas Jones had a little to do with it... It was mostly Hartsock, though.
