    Mangold, Harris, Dbrick.

None of those three held out. Brick and Mangold, got exactly the contract they wanted and Harris determined the Jets couldnt give him what he wanted due to the CBA issues, and yet he showed up to work, to make even less than Revis this year. These three are proof you don't have to do what Revis is doing to get paid. And Mangold is now the highest paid guy at his position after doing what he did, which is exactly what revis wants to be paid like.

While you are right none of us would want to play for the league minimum, most of us would at least be reasonable in our demands. We would ask for something within the realm of sanity, Revis is on another planet with his demands.

For awhile I was in the Revis camp because I believe he is due more than the $1M contract. Yes, you should play out your contract, but the team can terminate his deal if it was the other way around, so I have no beef with him wanting to get more than his underpaid $1M. However, I believe the Jets have stepped up and offered him more than fair pay for what he has done with their recent contract offer. Does the contract make him the highest payed defensive player in the NFL? Nope. Does it make him the highest payed DB in the league? No. So fucking what. Just because the Raiders shame of a franchise gave N'D...Spellcheck a stupidly inflated deal doesn't mean shit as far as the Jets are concerned. The Jets front office spent money surrounding Revis with talent to get them to the promised land and unfortuately, don't have an extra $3-5M to give to Mevis. Would Revis rather get his $$ and be on a crappy 6-10 team, or make a little less (but still an assload of cash in the big picture) and have a realistic shot at a ring? Revis has made his statement. It's about him and his crappy agent giving him this advice. Nobody is saying he shouldn't get paid, but $12-$13M a year at his age for playing a kids sport should suffice most people's ego. If the Jets were lowballing him and offering him like an average DB's salary like $6 or $7 per, I would understand. I can only imagine what I would do with 6 or 7 M let alone 12 or 13.... PER YEAR! Let him rot and end up hurting himself in the long run with the impending potential lockout. He will be 2 years removed and 2 years closer to the end of his career looking for a contract. Good luck getting that $12M then....unless the Raiders come calling and your chance of getting a ring is permanently etched in stone.
    /end rant

At this point it doesnt matter if we agree or disagree with revis at this point we all know he basically has no leverage. If he sits out it would practically be football suicide.

Well we knew spelling wasn't his strong suit and now math too.

But hey when you own a mansion a yacht and make millions while posting nonsense on a message board, who cares about little details like that.

none of them were getting paid 1 million bucks after one of the best seasons at their position in history, either.

I don't condone his actions, but i understand them.

Can't wait till Boldin or Mason burn Kyle Wilson on Monday Night. And then Moss and Welker do even worse the next week. But it's ok, we don't need Revis.

I would agree entirely if there was also a rule that teams couldn't cut players while they're under contract and leave them with nothing.

    Tell that to Leon Washington.

I don't have any problem at all with Darrelle Revis demanding more money from the Jets. He's easily the best cornerback in football, he's grossly underpaid, and based on what he's given to the team over the past 2 years he deserves to be rewarded with a little security going forward.

The problem is that he seems unwilling to negotiate in good faith. There's a huge difference between giving the guy a raise and unconditionally folding to his demands, giving him a team crippling deal. That's why I stand fully behind the team here.

My point was you don't have to hold out to get rewarded. I also understand his actions, but the Jets aren't going to cave, its apparent now. what he is considering by holding out into the season, especially if he refuses to budge from these numbers, is career suicide. If he demands to be paid 160 million and not a penny less, he will be forced to retire and as a result will end up having made a whopping 15 million dollars, and probably owe most of that back to the Jets in fines for never reporting.

didn't you cut Thomas Jones because you didn't want to pay him a signing bonus after he rushed for over 1400 yards? Yeah, that was in good faith.

I've already moved on. If he signs, great. If not, just good.

Yes, I personally cut Thomas Jones. I was sick of his "two steps, drop" technique so I called up Tanny and told him to pull the trigger.

I don't think any of us know what's going on behind closed doors. Who knows what the hangup is. All we have to go on are sources and reports, which are obviously not reliable (see Cowlishaw).

What I DO know is that using a nickname such as Mevi$ is extraordinarily gay. It makes me cringe every time I see it. The same cringe when you see when you see some lady drag her husband out of the house in pink slacks. Or when you see a single adult male attending a Justin Beiber concert. Its so gay that I feel the need to spell it differently so I don't insult gay people. It is ghey. Ghey.

I meant "you" as in the team you are a fan of. Of course you wouldn't understand context though.
