Been watching the show as many of you are and this is what I feel the roster might actually look like come opening season. QB 1.Sanchez 2.Brunnel 3.O’Connel 4.Ainge (Aigne would be #3 if in camp.) RB 1.Greene 2.Tomlinson 3. McKnight FB 1.Richardson 2.Connors WR 1.Holmes 2.Edwards 3.Cotchery 4.Smith 5.Clowney 6.Coles (Coles or Clowney will be gone when Holmes comes back, so only counting five spots.) TE 1.Keller 2.Hartsock OL 1.Mangold 2.Woody 3.Ferguson 4.Moore 5.Ducasse 6.Slauson 7.Turner 8.Hunter DL 1.Jenkins 2.Ellis 3.Devito 4.Pouha 5.Gholston 6.Wright (only because we lost Pitoitua) LB 1.Harris 2.Scott 3.Pace 4.Taylor 5.Westerman 6.Cummings 7.Thomas 8.Laury (Unless we go with an one of our younger undrafted free agents.) CB 1.Cromartie 2.Wilson 3.Lowry 4.Coleman 5.Cole 6.Revis (Moves to #1 when signed.) S 1.Leonhard 2.Pool 3.Ihedigbo 4.Smith ST 1.Woodhead 2.Mulligan K 1.Folk (Risky signing) P 1.Weatherford (Maybe he will continue to improve) LS 1.Purdum (Can someone tell my why we let Dearth go?) Practice Squad 1.(S) Warren 2.(FB) Davis 3.(LB) Reamer 4.(DL) Kroul 5.(WR) Henry 6. (WR) Taylor (I ranked him in sixth since I'm sure Davis will be picked up by another team.) Note: I'm counting Aigne and Revis as part of my 53 man roster and only counting five receivers since Holmes will be suspended. Also, I ranked six on the practice squad since it is very uinlikely they will all pass waivers. What players do you not agree with and who would you keep instead?
I don't see us carrying 4 QB's. Ainge isn't happening and O'Connell looks like hot garbage. I doubt Jason Davis makes it through waivers to the PS if we put him out...someone will snag him. If that's the case then Washington definitely hangs in there, which by the way I think happens anyway.
Consider Ainge gone as this will be his 2nd offence. Clemens will be here and O'Connel will most likely be gone. Saving $500,000 to have a 3rd string QB that can't play isn't worth it. Chauncey definitely needs to be here. I'm surprised Satele is still with the team considering how little he's done. I'd still like to see Jackson stay on the PS, but i don't want to give up anyone currently on that list.
Ainge and O'Connell are gone. Washington and Davis have a chance, Clemens is on the fence. McNight will cause us nothing but trouble with his lack of intensity and perchant for fumbling the ball. Mark my words, Washington will be a better bet.
There was a clip on Rotoworld yesterday that said the Jets are shopping Clemens...and that the Cardinals may be interested. I don't trust much of what's on Rotoworld, but this makes some sense. To the OP - are you in rehab with Erik Ainge or something?
Cimini wrote something quick up about that too. I tweeted him what he thinks we could get from the Cards but did not get a answer.
If you watched Hard Knocks you would know that we are only planning on carrying 3 Qbs. Besides we definitely do not have the liberty of taking 4 Quarterbacks if we are taking 2 fullbacks. Why would Davis have a chance? Why in the world would we carry 3 fbs? are we running a full house offense all game?
Hope Chauncey Washington stays which may put McKnight or Woodhead at risk. Would rather see Clemens then Ainge or O'Connell. Clowney best chance is special teams especially after Holmes returns, but Westhoff was not too high on him even though he recovered fumble. Agree that there's no way Davis survives waivers and that's too bad.
I like woodhead but hate the way he falls down when defenders breathe on him. I think Washington should get that spot because of that alone.
Why in the hell do you guys like Chauncey Washington over Joe McKnight? I don't get it. Washington forced a fumble on special teams against Carolina - that's the highlight of this practice body's career. He's been below average as a runner against third stringers and he's done absolutely nothing as a receiver out of the backfield. This pre-season McKnight's been more productive against better competition. Jet fans need to understand that McKnight will basically take a redshirt year behind LaDainian Tomlinson. His situation is a lot like Vlad Ducasse's. Both of these rooks will receive top tier coaching, while backing up proven, elite talent for a season. This was a developmental pick. If he wins the job as a return man, then he's clearly ahead of schedule.
I really believe that guys will either play their way onto or off of the team tonight. This is the last chance for guys to make an impression and i think a matter of a play or two could chance everything for a few guys. If Matt Mulligan happens to come down with, as Mike Westhoff puts it,"The triple Asian Flu" and misses tackles hes prob gone. I also dont think Clowney makes the team either. This year might have been his worst camp since he got here.
As a college student with a part time job the past few years i spent alot of time at Hofstra watching the team practice
Agreed McKnight's not goin anywhere. I wanna see some reps behind the starting O-line before we bash the guy, and even if he still looks unimpressive he's a work in progress. As to the return duties I don't think he's even in the conversation for the job if Revis is here, in which case it's Wilson's job to lose.
granted i havent seen too much of camp this year with it being in Cortland. Ive been up there a few times but the previous years he looked like a true NFL receiver, deep threat guy
