RFA but who knows if that distinction will still exist with a new bargaining agreement in 2011.

All I know is Harris is handling this like a class act and the Jets should throw him some extra money this year to show their appreciation... and then next year make him a Jet for life.

If all else fails, we have the franchise tag.

Boo ya... that is an important factor and it doesn't sound as if he'd take issue with the Jets wanting to keep him for the long run. As long as they don't use it like the Raiders do.

Exactly. NO WAY Rex lets Harris walk without any type of replacement.

    DING DING DING DING DING.

I think Tanny's plan is to get his deal done and use the tag on one of the guys we traded for. But if Harris isn't signed by the time the tag becomes an option, you bet your ass they'll use it on him. Remember when they laughed in Denver's face when he was brought up last off-season in a Marshall deal? They know how valuable this guy is.

My only concern with Harris is health. Even if he gets hurt though unless its a Leon-type compound fracture or something of the sort I still can't see the FO letting him get away.

I was hoping they could sign him, but i can understand because of the rules

He's my favorite Jet other than Sanchez

I don't want to see him leave

His contract numbers were infinitely lower, too low to offset with a reasonable yet high signing bonus. We actually did present him with an offer, but he balked at the structure. Since I'm guessing it was completion bonus heavy, I can't blame him.

I agree. A good faith measure would be a great way to secure future negotiations, too.

Very true. The Jets are showing they'll take care of you if you perform. They needed to do that.

I can see David Harris becoming the next Mo Lewis as far as legendary Jet LB 's goes. I love the realistic attitude and the faith he's showing in Tannenbaum. No way the Jets screws him over. All of this hopefully isn't lost on #24. I won't use his name again until he comes to work.

David Harris is a true professional and one hell of a linebacker. If only Revis took this line of thought with 3 years remaining on his rookie deal. Harris is on the final year and could holding out crying about a new deal but he has chosen to be a real man and honor the contract he signed. You are the man David Harris. It is Jets like you that make me proud to be a fan of this beloved football team.

Harris should be the next to get paid, followed closely by Holmes.

The minute David Harris stepped in for Vilma he instantly became one of my favorite players. Harris is one of those LB's that seem to always make an impact play. He is just a terrific player.

He is everything you want in an inside LB for a 3-4, shit any defense. He is a terrific pass rusher and a freakin monster hitter. There is no way the Jets are going to let him hit the open mkt........

I hope we can find a way to get him a new deal before the season starts to really stick it to Revis and his agents. Mangold, Brick and Harris show up camp and ready to play, they get new deals first. Show'em that we reward team players before selfish holdouts.

Excluding Revis I think the man has a point.

Holmes is probably the best player on the offense excludling the oline.
