I had him on my fantasy squad. Dropped a lot of balls. He could be a lot better than he is. I don't know, I'd have to give him a look though. If Horn wasn't on the other side would his numbers drop or go up?
Maybe. It's way too similar to the Peerless Price deal. He's always been next to a legit number one receiver, is known more for his speed than his hands, and struggles off the break. It's way too similar and we have yet to see Thomas as a rushbacker.
Hypothetical. They just traded Jonathan Sullivan for Bethel Johnson. Laveranues Coles is pretty damn good too.
I wouldn't do this trade. Thomas could excel as an OLB in the 3-4. We have to at least give him a shot. Stallworth is nothing special anyway.
Why exactly are we trading for Donte Stallworth instead of giving Jerrico Cotchery a full shot? I know I harp on this a lot but Cotchery broke Torry Holt's records at NC State. He has 4.5 speed and good size and it's just nuts not to give him an opportunity to win a starting job here. Herm always had 3 vets in front of him. Well, we're rebuilding now and Chrebet just retired. Play the damn kid before he winds up as an RFA and we have no idea how to value him.
exactly. i've echoed these sentiments time and time again (especially the tory holt part), and i'm glad i wasn't forced to re-type them. Philip Rivers also said that Jericho was his favorite target at State. Yes, Cotchery had Rivers throwing him the ball, but for Rivers to say that, it must mean something, along with the statistics. Cotchery may not have elite speed, but he has very sure hands and good "playing speed," which is just as important as 40-speed. Give him a shot and let's see him flourish. cheers
So if I was a betting man which I aint sayin I isn't, I would guess your not liking Justins performances over the last 2 seasons. Also, the numbers aren't that far apart between Justin http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235117 and Dante http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/302227. They are 229 yards apart and almost identical at 20 and 30 yards and TD's in two years. And in this hypothetical breakdown with non-fictional facts, both starting QB's were not there. Somebody please correct me but didn't Aaron get benched after 13 games which is more than what the Jets had and still Justin was close by what, a 4 game performance on avg? I think we are comparing apples to apples here. I would stick with Justin unless something else better pops up. Hypothetically. I forgot all about Byron...........
Good guess. Stallworth has more receptions in four seasons (195) than McCareins in five (168). Mccareins has never caught more than 56 balls in a season. Stallworth caught 70 in 2005 and 58 in 2004. Stallworth also gets the edge in TDs. MCcareins 15 in five seasons. Stallworth 23 in four. Donte Stallworth would be an upgrade for the Jets. I think McCareins would be more effective as a #3 wr.
Well I think it has more to do with opportunity. You can factor the stats and always go with the better one but the Jets did not, could not pass the ball efficiently. N.O. att 553(05) & 542(04) respectively in passes to the Jets 470(05) & 430(04). With more opportunities come more yards, TD's and anything else that relates to a QB throwing a ball. I do have to say Dante showed great upside in his 1st 2 years of limited starts which just by looking at it he was avg 1 TD a game. N.O. was passing the ball a lot. But the Jets up until now have played conservative. Between Hackett and Chad going down I wouldn't look towards the recievers looking for a problem that may not exist. What would have Dante done in the Jets offense the last two years? You said L.C. was pretty good right? 845 yards! That's the number one guy. Fix that line and have a decent running game and those numbers improve for the wideouts.
Hell yes it is said that Coach Payton wants to get rid of some players who dont fit whats hes tryna do in NO stalllworth could be one of them and as much as i liked to believe Thomas can play OLB in the 3-4 , he hasnt proved to be great pash rusher in a 4-3 like abe was.
first of all...while were at it-Who would make this trade-Marvin Harrison for Dewayne Robertson? The Colts just signed Reggie Wayne to an extension so i think they are shopping Harrison-WHAT A STUPID QUESTION! second of all who is our other option at OLB-we already have 5 WRs but not enough OLBs
If it was a reality, then it would be a great move... But its not so it sucks... Saints would demand a pick (late rounder)
Being a Saints fan I can tell you that Donte Stallworth is not exactly the best thing since sliced bread. He is the type of player that makes a couple incredible plays every year and has the POTENTIAL to be incredible but every year it is the same story. Don't get me wrong, Stallworth is a good #2 WR and if he would work on catching the balls with any part of his body besides his shoulder pads and run a cleaner route he could be a legit #1. As far as our DE situation goes we have Will Smith, Charles Grant, Tony Bryant, Rob Ninkovich, Willie Whitehead and a couple other guys competing for a spot. All of these guys except Ninkovich (rookie) have had plenty of starting experience in the NFL so I don't think we would make that trade. The only positions were the Saints really need help is at OT, cb, DT and Lb. There are several rumors circulation that Stallworth could be part of a trade to get Donnie Edwards from San Diego. Personally I can go either way with that trade because we are loaded at WR and adding a player like Donnie Edwards would instantly make a weak link on our team a strength. However, it is not always a good idea to trade a 25 year old productive WR with a huge upside for a guy that is 33.
