bro Mangold is going to want big money, more guarnteed than revis wants I guarntee it...thing is once the cap comes back...guys are gone...too many big salaries..and with Washington yapping in everybodys ear....there is a problem there...pay the man, he is the future (and the present)... Although his demands are a little ridiculous I must say..
I think some stupid thread I started got morphed into this one just to make it easy. Do I get some vcash for having "started" the thread? Perhaps I get some taken away.......
if they pay him than everyone will just hold out to get what they want... it creates a slippery slope.
I think the Jets should take the approach that they will talk about an extension and not a new contract. They can give him the guarantees back for next year and the year after and add on three additional years. They can give him some guaranteed money up front to make up for the fact he is only making 1 mil this year. However, that is all I would do. He can sit out forever if he doesn't want it. Forget this 10 year crap.
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no and no. 16 million dollars for a Cornerback is simply ridiculous. That's almost 80% more thant the Franchise number. I'm sorrry but that's absurd and isn't happening anytime soon.
More and more people have finally come around to this way of thinking. If you go back and look at this thread in the beginning at least half of the people were saying just pay him whatever he wants. Now most people would like him on the team but only at a price that makes sense. If he stays out much longer people will start morphing into not caring if he is here or not. I assume he reads some of this crap and I hope he is starting to see how the tide is changing.
The FO should just let Revis shop around and see what team is willing to give him the contract he's demanding. Edited
That wouldn't work because after they gave the Jets the 9000 players and picks it would cost to get him they wouldn't have anything left to pay him.
You get to gamble with it when there are gambling threads made. They will start when the season starts.
no they shouldn't. there's nothing stopping a team from saying they would pay him $16 million per year, but then not actually trading for him. how would that possibly help the Jets unless the Jets were willing to trade him for whatever the other team offered, because in the end Revis and that team can still say another team is willing to pay him $16 million or whatever, and the Jets wouldn't be able to deny it.
