If Woody is saying this openly then I bet we trade Revis. Who or what should we get for him?

He's not being traded. There is no reason to do that. The compensation would be insane.

I saw on NFLN tonight that they are stuck on what the appropriate compensation is for a lifetime contract.

They want Revis a Jet for the rest of his career, but both camps aren't budging on what they want to do. Even the short term solutions aren't enough.

    They offered him 100 mil.

How big of a SB are you going to pay a guy that want's to redo his deal every three years ?

And...barring Revis taking a decent offer, the Jets should eat the pick they selected him with, as if the player had a career ending injury, and make his ass sit on that 1 Mil/1year contract until he decides to play it out.

Exactly. let him sit this year.

I keep hearing that "the Jets cannot win a Super Bowl without Revis." That is likely true. But if the Jets cave in, is there a guarantee they will win it with him? What happens if they give in and he gets this potential injury that everyone is worried about? The Jets are then out the big money, won't have Revis and still don't win the Super Bowl.

As a fan, I still don't get the elusive championship. Nor will I be all that satisfied that Darrelle will at least be able to feed his family. Let him sit and let's see how the Jets do on the field with what they have.

I'm not sure what you consider huge, but the 49ers signed Patrick Willis to a deal that gives him 29 million (more than half the 50 million dollar total) in a guaranteed bonus spread across 2 seasons.

It's not huge in comparison to what Revis seems to be asking, but in the context of the deal it is pretty big.

Because of the reallocation rule, any guaranteed money falls under the 09 cap, which we had 300k of space. The true guaranteed money could not kick in until 2011 and beyond. I wish this point was stickied at top of this thread.

The only way around this is a huge signing bonus but that would put a lot of trust in Revis and his interesting group of supporters.

    And there you have it.

Basically if Revis is willing to accept $300k guaranteed, then the Jets are ready to make that deal.

This interview should be interesting. I hope I catch it. I think what is frustrating fans is none of us know the numbers that are being presented. Which is a good thing cause it shows the FO is being tight lipped about it.

I guess we will have to trade Revis. I just hope we get something good for him. But who is going to give us anything of value for a greedy holdout primadonna with a horrible agent.

With Revis we were a top 6 or 7 team this year. without him are we still in the top ten?

When I was around 10 years old, my dad took me over to the local Wiz to buy the brand spanking new Sega Genisis. My dad loves to haggle, so he tried to bring down the price from like $250 to something reasonable. I didn't understand what was going on, especially after he nearly walked out of the store saying "Ugh, this is too much. Forget it". I got really angry at him and screamed "No! I want my Sega. Pay the man!"

I get that feeling now. Woody is the father, Revis is the toy, and we're all a bunch of kids begging him to buy the toy at any cost.

If it came with Altered Beast, $250 is actually a reasonable price.

The Ravens were mentioned on espn as a team looking to trade for a corner they are loaded at linebacker and defensive linemen Haloti Ngata and a conditional pick or Terrel Suggs and Terrance Cody would work for me. Lets be realistic if we give in to Revis at this point it could put our future in jeopardy. I feel we have a wr on the roster that can beat Revis in Braylon Edwards.

Good analogy but in this case dad already paid for the toy and we have played with it for 3 years. Because we were so happy with the toy and sang it's praises the toy decided it was too good of toy for what dad paid for it and decided to leverage our love for the game for more money from our dad.

I would take Ngata and a pick! With him and jenks in a rotation they would both be fresh and brutal to deal with. Not sure if they would go for that though.

ok but sitting this year looks like it has a decent chance of happening considering his uncle and supporters. If that happens do you really think he'll be a good player for us next year? or the year after? I think once Revis gets pissed and has to sit out a year he'll have to be traded. His loyalty and desire to play for the Jets will be long gone. And that's what he'll want - to get a big pay day like his uncle.

So while we're not talking "trade" right now the longer this holdout goes on the more likely that becomes an option IMO.

Actually the 'anonymous source' report that came out was 5 mil but Leon called it bogus and it wasn't refuted by the Jets. That offer was never confirmed by anything but an anonymous quote. Probably the Jets playing politics through the press.

    No...Trade...Ever.

He either retires, or comes back and fulfills his 1/mil/1year commitment (essentially playing a contract year.....)and then gets franchised.

The F.O. would do better to eat the pick than to let Team Mevi$ steal it from them.
