Not sure how active the fantasy forum is here but thought I'd start this thread anyway as I've been trying to figure out who to target with my 11th overall pick in my $ league. Here is the scoring system I usually use Passing 25 yards = 1pt TD = 4pts Rushing/Receiving 10 yards = 1pt TD = 6pts Fumble = -2pts Interception = -2pts I play with these as the positions you need to fill on gameday 1 QB 3 WRs 2 RBs 1 TE 1 Flex (RB or WR) 1 Kicker 1 Team defense Here is where my top 12 stands right now. 1) Chris Johnson 2) MJD 3) Adrian Peterson 4) Ray Rice 5) Andre Johnson 6) Michael Turner 7) Frank Gore 8) DeAngelo Williams 9) Aaron Rodgers 10) Reggie Wayne 11) Randy Moss 12) Rashard Mendenhall I find myself taking Reggie Wayne with the 11th pick pretty often, but not sure how happy I am with that. Rodgers is very often still available, but even though I think he'll put up great stats this year I'm just not very comfortable taking a QB with my first pick yet. What do you all think?
If people followed your rankings and picked them accordingly straight down the line, I'd take Brees or Manning (and maybe even Tom Brady) over Reggie Wayne or Aaron Rodgers regardless of the scoring system. But that's just my opinion.
Ah yea my bad, standard scoring on most leagues I've encountered. Passing 25 yards = 1pt TD = 4pts Rushing/Receiving 10 yards = 1pt TD = 6pts Fumble = -2pts Interception = -2pts I play with these as the positions you need to fill on gameday 1 QB 3 WRs 2 RBs 1 TE 1 Flex (RB or WR) 1 Kicker 1 Team defense
What about Steven Jackson, or Cedric Benson. Those two RBs could easily be top 12 over D. Williams and Rodgers, base on the scoring system.
There are a couple reasons why I like Rodgers more than Brees or Peyton. First of all, Rodgers will usually get you some rushing points from yards and TDs. Brees and even more-so Manning actually give you negative rushing yards and no rushing TDs. Second, the Saints actually run the ball a lot more than you think... especially in the red zone. They had the same amount of rushing TDs as the Jets last year. Granted they had a lot more TDs in general, but they love to work their running backs. Manning is a risk because the Colts have shown a few times they are willing to sit him at the end of the year when the games often don't matter for the Colts. Last year Rodgers was the highest scoring QB, and that was with a terrible offensive line. That Oline should be a little better this year and Rodgers will have another year of experience. After seeing the numbers Rodgers put up last year without even using Jennings that much, I'd be surprised if Brees, Brady, or Manning scored as high in fantasy as Rodgers will.
I just saw your scoring system. I wasn't aware passing TD's only gave u 4 points. Most FFL (at least the ones that I join) give QB's 6 points for TD's. It's a good point to make about Rodgers since he's projected to have a really good FF year next season, but IMO you have guys who have been consistently putting up great #'s so you can't really go wrong with Brees & Manning. Also a fair point about Manning, which is why I think Brees is considered by most the best overall QB in this year's FF Draft. With regards to Rodgers, I would point u back to the first part of this post.
Yea that's the reason I haven't been taking Rodgers in any of the mocks I've done while sitting at work bored (http://fantasyfootballcalculator.com/), it just feels like too much of a risk when you can get decent QB production anywhere in the first 10 rounds really. Peyton is probably the QB I feel the most comfortable with but I'd probably go Brees just because Peyton always seems to sit out games when it really counts in fantasy.
everybody has its own choice and could say anything. Personally I like Rodgers because I felt that it was always interesting to watch them, they had some amount of rushing in the red zone, the movement of ball is actually more than anybody can think.
The quarterback position is so deep this year that you can get some real quality in the later rounds. My opinion would be to hold off on QB, and fill up on the other skill positions like running back or WR. Every down backs are few and far between, try and scoop up as many of those guys as you can prior to going QB. The great part of going QB late is that you can create QB/WR tandems much easier. Example: If you were to draft Anquan Boldin in the 3rd round, theres a good shot that in rounds 5-7 you can pick up Flacco for double points on sunday. Its a winning strategy
I definitely agree. In my keeper league I have never kept a QB, always opting for RBs and WRs (and Gates a couple of years when he was dominant). I personally would never take a QB in the first round, ESPECIALLY in leagues where you only start 1.....which is pretty much 99.9% of leagues. Through the years, I have still ended up with QBs like Brees, Warner, and Romo. Stud QBs emerge every year from mid-later rounds (Rodgers is a perfect example). I always recommend taking the upside RB/WR over the stud QB, unless of course Brees falls to you in the 3rd round or something crazy like that. Instead, find value later on, such as Romo (he could have just as good a season as Brees/Manning and can be taken a round or 2 later), or my personal "sleeper" picks, Palmer and Kevin Kolb. Now that I'm done rambling, here's my 12 for that format: 1.Chris Johnson 2.Adrian peterson 3.MJD 4.Ray Rice 5.Frank Gore 6.Andre Johnson 7.Steven jackson 8.Jamaal Charles 9.Larry Fitzgerald 10.Michael Turner 11.Mendenhall 12.Ryan mathews btw, I'm probably in the minority, but I'll take Jonathan Stewart over DeAngelo.
My only problem with Charles is the fact the Cheifs signed Thomas Jones. I dont anticipate the cheifs being on the goalline all that often, but im sure jones will get those carries over Charles
Everyone keeps forgetting about Jerome harrison in cleveland. With the qb situation in cleveland being as fucked up as it is, its a good move to look into Harrison. He tore it up at the end of last season.
