Remember when Cleveland skipped Wilson at #7 and picked Haden?

Reports are coming according to Lombardi that Haden didn't look too good at minicamp:

"Coaches around the league" tell NFL.com's Mike Lombardi that Browns first-round pick Joe Haden struggled at minicamps.

Haden "might not have enough speed to play corner," writes Lombardi. Lombardi notes that there were conflicting opinions inside the franchise as to whether the Browns should take Haden or Kyle Wilson 7th overall. They went with the more highly touted Haden, and it apparently isn't looking great so far.

Coaches around the league are familiar with how certain team's rookies looked in their no-pad minicamps? That's a pretty strong news update idea, thank goodness it was written. Haden will definitely be a bust now, all I needed was Mike Lombardi to cleverly imply it.

    /sarcasm.

Pretty sure one of the first things taken into consideration when looking at a CB is his speed. There's no way they are just now figuring out he isn't fast enough. Also, it's too early to hit the panic button with any draftee.

Watching both CB's before the draft, Wilson looked like the more natural player. There is almost no doubt in my mind he'll be a stud, so I'm glad we have him over Haden.

Comparing them before either of them have gotten to training camp or even strapped on pads seems 100% fair.

It is early but there is a lot of football outside of tackling(i.e. covering, reading defenses, etc.) Either way, I haven't heard these same things about KW.

Cant wait for the post season comparison!!!!!!!

Let me take a guess, Mangina really pushed for him and needed to have him.

based on what I heard, the coaching staff was divided between wilson and Haden, and holmgren came in and voted and went with Haden.

Which is fine, Haden was considered the top corner by many involved for pretty much the entire process, but what I don't understand is why 2 other CB's went before Wilson. Kareem Jackson and Devin Mccourty?

It seems very silly to me, this kid is going to be absolutely disgusting in the future, and i am willing to bet 27 teams are going to be kicking themselves for not drafting him.

Their loss is simply...our gain. I hope KW puts on a show this season and for seasons to come.

Being that Mangini was here for Revis Christ, I'ma hafta say not likely. He would have most likely been pushing for Wilson since we all know he was the best CB in the draft.

In complete agreement, Wilson is going to be a stud for us, and can't wait for everybody else to realize it when he takes his first punt return for a TD

I'm an RU alumn and would have been happy with McCourty had Wilson not been available. I would have liked to see McCourty somewhere other than NE though...Wilson should be the better player. I think he was a great pick for us. No surprise there.

Just hope he's not Revis's replacement now that we have this contract issue over our heads.

I'm looking forward to the first time Rex sends him off the edge on a cornerback blitz...to take off Henne's head (vagina).

Mangini also really pushed for and needed to have Revis, Harris, Brick and Mangold.

I read elsewhere that Haden can chew a standard McDonalds hamburger faster than Wilson, so things may have evened out.

Yeah I can't bag on Haden as a Gator alumni, but I'm perfectly fine with the way things turned out.

I still cannot believe/understand why Kyle Wilson was still available when the Jets had their pick.

Since those worked out I give Tanny the credit for those, and blame Mangini for Gholston.

    I'ts easier that way.

I remember that when the combine was going on that Haden's forty time was very impressive at all, so it really shouldn't be a surprise that he isn't the fastest guy on the field. Now if it is other things besides his speed that has the coaches worried then alright.

I don't think there is one Jet fan out there that is upset we got KW. But until the games are played and the rooks are on the field we won't know who is the busts/studs of the draft.
