1) Colts 2) Chargers 3) Patriots 4) Texans 5) Ravens These few teams have the potential to overtake or be on the same level as the Ravens @ the #5 spot...Bengals, Jets, and Titans.
You are correct but....... this is just my opnion. I think they will be better this year after signing some veteran leadership in the WR corps in A. Bryant to go along with Ochocinco ( I hate calling him that, lol)
I saw you didnt put in Miami...hey..I respect that. I was busting you from the previous thread...carrying over sarcasm from another thread...dangerous game. My fault.
If you look at the top 5 in the NFL (Saints, Cowboys, Vikings, Packers, Colts), the AFC is downright embarrasing by comparison. Other than Peyton and co. all the real firepower is on the other side.
I was noticing the same thing when I was looking over the teams for this thread. But if you look at the defenses..... Jets, Steelers, Ravens, Miami (3rd in scks in the league) the defensive power is in the AFC.
bryant, shipley and gresham are at least equal to what the jets, phins and ravens have added on O ... plus they get smith on the line for the whole season and they have a better qb than the aforementioned teams their O has a chance to be really good
VINCENT JACKSON IS SO TALL THAT THE CHARGERS SHOULD BE NUMBER ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111oneone!!1111eleven1111!!!
1. Chargers. They have a young stud runningback next year to go next to all that passing leet-ness. 2. Colts. Peyton Manning has a couple more great years in him and next year is one of them. 3. Ravens Tough call putting them this high but I think Flacco is going to come through with the addition of Boldin. The ground game is excellent. 4. Patriots Brady is recovered from the injury but he and Moss are both getting old. No Welker early will hurt also. I think this is the Pats last go-round in the top 5 for awhile. 5. Dolphins The ground game is really solid, the QB is really solid and they have Brandon Marshall out wide. I don't think Chad Henne is a top 5 QB in the AFC but I think the offense will likely get there this season. If Sanchez is ready to go full steam then the Jets could take the 5 spot. Teams I don't like to be there despite their past achievements are the Texans (Schaub had a career year he's unlikely to repeat, ground game is iffy) and Steelers (no Holmes hurts them a lot more than having Holmes helps the Jets at the moment, Roethlisberger suspended at start).
Nice post, but I don't think the term I would use for Henne is solid. And certainly not REALLY solid. Heh. Heh's an average Qb at best. Ints outnumbered td's. And that's with an above average running game taking the pressure off. If he didn't have that he'd be putting up below average numbers, imo. Whether the Jets have a top five quite frankly depends pretty much on Sanchez. I fully expect Keller and Greene to be strong. Some questions about Faneca leaving, perhaps, but the OL will likely be top shelf again. And I personally expect a killer year from Edwards, with many three wideout sets once Holmes is activated. It's all going to depend on Sanchez, at least in terms of questions right now. If he plays as well as he did against SD in the divisional game, the Jets certainly will be top five, maybe even tops.
Even ignoring special teams and defensive scores the Jets scored 321 points last year. Multiply by 2 and you get 642 points, more than 50 points more than the record-setting 2007 Pats scored, so I'm pretty comfortable going out on a limb and saying that the Jets won't double their scoring total on offense. An increase of one-third (100 points) would be just fine in my opinion, and a realistic possibility.
