Please help me out here. This Mike Nolan who has been touted as an unbelievable pick up for the Dolphins this year can't be the same Mike Nolan that is listed with an 18-37 head coaching record. In addition, he has already been with 8 NFL teams 5 of which let him go as their defensive coordinator??? Can't believe so many teams let such a great coach get away
The Jets and the Pats have two of the largest, most passionate fan bases in football. When Florio posts that both teams will suck, Jets and Pats fans rush to comment on his site to complain, making him money. Pretty simple.
Regardless of what you think of Mike Nolan, he is an upgrade over Pasqualoni. You'd be silly not to think that he is a good defensive coordinator despite his lack of success as a head coach.
Well just because he wasn't a good HC doesn't mean he isn't good as a DC. Gregg Williams was pretty mediocre as an HC but was a huge upgrade for the Saints this past year. Also, Wade Phillips is an awful HC but a pretty damn good DC.
I live in 49ners land and seen have Mike nolans work up close, he sucks. good luck with him, your going to need it.
This is the 6th defensive coordinator position for him. That means 5 teams didnt think he was all that great. Ok 4 if you consider he jumped to head coaching job. When he was DC for the Jets in 2000 they were tied for 15th in points allowed, hardly HOF credentials. I am not saying he stinks but Jim Johnson or Dick Lebeau he aint. Hell he aint even Buddy Ryan.
I enjoy his site for the actual news, but when he throws in his "analysis"....well, his AFC East "preview" about sums that up.
