Let me start off by saying how important Darrelle Revis is to the Jets and that he absolutely deserves a new contract...I do think however the importance of re-signing David Harris is being way overlooked. This guy has been an absolute stud ever since he got inserted in the lineup after Vilma's injury. I think letting him playout the year is a big mistake by Tannebaum. Revis keeps talking about how the core guys need to be paid if you want a Dynasty, but how about a fair agreement to keep the core guys? It looks like we're letting Mangold go down the wrong road...franchise tag? I've neve been this excited for a Jets season by far, bu just as concerned bout the Core 4. I do think Tannenbaum is great at what he does, but that would change if we let a guy like Harris hit free agency!
your new, and of all the names you could of picked, you chose one that plays for the dolphins?????? and people are gonna tell you the enter bar is your friend  and yes all four need to get resigned!
Not sure what you're trying to say. Revis is asking what is NOT a 'fair agreement'. Tannenbaum would become the bad guy if he doesn't resign Revis, even though Tanny initiated the contract talks. Mangold and Harris wouldn't be that hard to resign. They don't have players playing their spots that make atleast 40% more than what they are worth so they don't have that basis to ask the 'Al Mother Fucking Davis' money. Brick will be making a lot of money next year so that shouldn't change the salary cap situation by much. Core four will stay intact. Its a procedure. We can't expect tanny to sign FOUR guys to mega deals with in weeks and then sign a few draft picks as well. They only time we have signed four mega deals was during the 2008 FA class. And these players are no where near the FA 'yet'.
Not at all ! Harris is one of the most underrated players on the defensive side of the ball. David Harris type players are hard to find, find another 3-4 linebacker on another team that could play alongside Bart Scott and still put up the numbers and make the plays Harris does. There aren't too many.
Granted Harris is great, we all saw he put up huge numbers from the minute he walked on the field his rookie year. But playing along Scott actually will help most LBs playing in this system. Scott's job is to occupy blockers and allow Harris to get all the production. Hate to say any of the big 4 might be gone, but if someone has to go it will be Harris.
Dude, you're crazy!!! Not a chance! The most replaceable? He means almost as much as Revis does to this defense.
Then who? Definitely not Revis. D'brick is a LT that is hard to find. Its too important of a position to take a chance on so no way D'Brick goes. That leaves us with Mangold. He's the best center in the NFL. You just can't replace the best player at a position. Although Harris is good, he is the most replaceable 'out of the core four'. Ideally, we'd like to retain ALL FOUR of them. Harris makes peanuts but produces huge. That shows his commitment towards the game.
Right now I would look to extend Mangold and franchise Revis, not the other way around. Mangold isn't the one that is talking crazy.
Why would we franchise Revis? If he does not a get a new contract, he won't be franchised for another 3yrs.
Not even close. One of the easiest positions to replace in a 3-4 defense is ILB. I love Harris, but let's be realistic.
Revis will be under contract for 3 more years when Tanny buys back the last 2 years of his rookie contract for $5M and $15M. That also prevents the team from using the franchise tag on Revis after that last buy back year. If he doesn't have a new contract by then he's gone.
