Little blurb about Joe, trying to put it all together, I wish him well, I'd like to see him be an integral part of the team.... http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Joe-McKnight-working-to-get-into-shape.html Joe McKnight working to get into shape Jets rookie runner struggled at first minicamp/Aaron Wilson It was a rough rookie debut for New York Jets running back Joe McKnight. Drafted in the fourth round out of USC, McKnight struggled during the Jets' rookie minicamp. He threw up. He was dehydrated. His legs cramped up. Now, McKnight says he's getting into much better shape to adjust to the NFL workout regimen. "I went home and worked on my cardio, I did a lot of core training and running to get my wind back, " McKnight told his hometown paper, the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "It's helped me because a lot of papers described me as lazy and not hard-working. I'm still changing that perception of me." According to J.T. Curtis, McKnight's high school coach and legal guardian, the problems stemmed from nervousness. "I don't think it was his conditioning as much as his excitement to be there, " Curtis said. "When Joe gets juiced up, he gets a terribly weak stomach. Joe will be in top condition at training camp. There are no concerns there." Well, not from the McKnight camp. From the Jets' rabid fan base, not so much. At least not until he scores a touchdown or two.
good for Mcknight. I personally think the problem at rookie camp was nerves. So by him taking the initiative to go above and beyond with his conditioning, is only going to make him a better player, and making him grow into his role even faster
That's what i'm thinking, and the caveat is that he has a history/chemistry with Sanchez, which is an invaluable tangible in MHO
I go to school in New Orleans, and i know this girl who was childhood friends with Joe, and she says that a lot of his bad work ethic stuff is way blown out of proportion and that he's one of the most hard working guys shes ever met, especially when it comes to football.
"When Joe gets juiced up, he gets a terribly weak stomach." Oh great... still, good to know he's working hard to get better good luck to him! I think this year will be primarily about pumping him up... RB coach wants him to get to 210 without losing agility...
I get a feeling we will be seeing a lot of stories on McKnight during the Hardknocks series. He's gonna be one of those rookies they show fighting to make it in the NFL. I was watching the re-runs on the NFL Network yesterday and I can already see it happening. Can't wait for the Jets to be on.
I'd like to think that our 4th round pick will have no problems making the team. You don't take TC fodder in the 4th round.
Anyone know who the hell this "NFL analyst Mike Detillier" is? Some of his points may be correct, but they appear as if he has inside knowledge of what the Jets plans are.
On the flip side FYI, history is full of star players that puked before. Shit I played hockey with a guy that would do that before mens league games.....lmao
I don't see the big deal about puking. People ripped McNabb for puking in the huddle during the Super Bowl... why's that so bad? Shit happens.
I think McKnight is a sleeper for this upcoming season. A lot of people overlook him, but I'm sure with Sanchez handing off, there'll be some sort of rapport that will show.
I think he'll be fine. I know if I were playing in my first NFL game, the first thing on my mind would be to make sure I don't drop the ball.
