just wait folks...........this guy is AWESOME under pressure......He was so good with ATL that SD demanded that he be included in the VICK trade - (I REALLY hated to see him go......) He has continued his clutch performances with the Chargers and now, the J-E-T-S have ANOTHER proven performer in DWIGHT. Not sure if he is as great as Wayne was but he IS a damn GOOD posession reciever and I'm glad we have him on our side.
Tim Dwight is Tim Dwight. He has his own reputation, but he's not the clutch guy that Chrebet was, although I think he can still be a solid depth receiver. Fast as a tiny white man can be, though.
No. No no no no no. Like abyzmul said, Dwight is Dwight, he's not, nor will ever be Wayne Chrebet, nor physically could he.
There is only one Wayne Chrebet. 379 of his career receptions went for first downs Second on the all-time team list with 580 receptions Third with 7,365 yards 41 career touchdowns "He inspired me every day," running back Curtis Martin said. "I loved the way he played and how he never backed down from anything. He was an incredible teammate. He was a warrior, and I always felt you'd have to kill him to get the upper hand on him. If every player in the NFL had as much heart and desire as he had, football would be illegal." http://www.newsvine.com/_news/2006/06/02/240149-jets-receiver-wayne-chrebet-retires Tim Dwight should never be compared to #80.
AGREED.....Tim is NOT Wayne Chrebet.....never meant to imply THAT....I only meant that he WILL be the GO TO guy......he is truely a CLUTCH performer and I will guarantee he will help us win a game or two with his "warrior" style of play
There was only ONE Chrebet. Nuff said about that. When Dwight first arrived in the NFL, I thought he would be a star. He was a fearless return man, but he just never lived up to my expectations. Even in NE, he had far too many drops, and despite his speed, never seemed to learn how to run good routes. I think he's here to return punts, since Miller can't catch them. That's about it.
Again....maybe I posted that wrong.....I never said that Dwight was Chrebet's EQUAL...........I just meant that he was his replacement.......
Jerricho Cotchery is our slot receiver. Why do people overlook him. He was arguably our most consistent receiver last year, especially on 3rd down. FREE JERRICHO!!!!
I agree. Dwight is an incredible punt returner and will be a big boost to special teams. As a receiver, though, he does drop too many balls and irritated Belichick by saving his fumbles for the worst moments. He's a good player and a solid acquisition for the Jets but there's a reason he was available from a team that was looking for receivers.
How could anyone compare Chrebet and Dwight? They're completely different. Just becuase they are both small and white doesn't mean Dwight is Wayne Jr.
After you have already explained yourself ten times,I think I will just reply to the thread with another---NO!! HE IS NOT WAYNE CHREBET! I hear what you are saying, maybe, although he couldn't even compare,he will be a decent fill in for those types of plays.
