I completely agree. Leave it the way it is. Don't mind them cutting out one preseason game but leave it at 16. The hell are we adding two more regular season games. Goddell is trying to fucking change this league. From Overtime to adding 2 regular season games. If it works don't try to fix it!!!
I think 16 is the perfect number. Players take too much punishment as it is. Sure they're getting an extra 2 games, but they already get that money with season tix AFAIK. Seems like it would just devalue their product, which will cost them in the end.
I realize that and would've said the same thing back then, but they did play like 6 preseason games which is insane
How about this? 3 preseason games instead of 4. 1 game is played right after the draft when people are craving football. 2 preseason games in August 17 game regular season. The extra game is for regional rivalries. Jets vs Giants, 49ers vs Raiders, Ravens vs Redskins, Eagles vs Steelers, etc...
I don't like that because free agency will still be ongoing an such. What would that accomplish? It would be a glorified preseason game. 17 game regular season? no no no no - it has to be an even number! lol
i dont like it. it will add wear and tear and i dont really care to see who has the most depth i would rather see the best players out there when the games count. they also talk about the "voluntary" workouts and doing some things to help the players there. definitely not a fair trade off if you ask me. they are making their money on tickets anyway, this must simply be a ploy to get the tv deals reworked.
No. I much prefer the current format. It isn't broke therefore there is no need to fix it. The NFL draws in enough viewership and money as it is and changing the game to an 18 game season only shows how truly greedy they are and will also show that they do not care about the players. If they change to an 18 game season it will be against a strong recommendation by the players association and it will only further delay a new CBA because if the players are going to be asked to lay their bodies on the line for two more meaningful games than they are going to want to be compensated as such. Does it really matter if the player who gets hurt in the 2nd or 3rd week of the Preseason gets hurt in the 1st week of the Regular Season? If anything its better that said player gets hurt in the Preseason giving the organization time to sign a replacement or replacements who then can have some Training Camp time with the offensive or defensive unit, more time then they would have in the Regular Season where the work week is mostly Wednesday-Friday (for the players).
More doesn't mean better.. the NFL should leave well enough alone. A developmental league would be a good idea though.
Why not? More football for me to watch. Add another bye week, and extend the football season by another 3 weeks. Who wouldn't want 3 more weeks of football that counts? I understand it would cause more wear and tear. Just switch around the IR rules, and let teams have more players on a roster, and that should help. It would also create some more jobs for the NFLPA. Why not?
I say no, but I probably would have also voted no if we were talking about going from 14 to 16.... Change isn't always good, but I won't know until I have it.
I've never cared much about the preseason games before, but now that I've signed up for season tickets I definitely would prefer two preseason games, over four. I'm not for increasing the regular season from 16 to 18 either, so I'd much rather just dump two preseason games. It'll never happen, but that would be my preference. However, for those arguing for players safety, the topic of "more players" being an option did come up, which would certainly help in the area of injuries. If we went to 18 regular season games, more players allowed on the roster would be a MUST.
AS a STH I'm on board with adding 2 regular season games/increasing the roster size, or just cutting out 2 of the preseason games all together. Another reason why I like it is it will result in a higher cap and therefore we could sign more players being that we are in a larger market. Get this done and we an offer Revi$ his money.
I would love to see 2 extra games. Football season always flies by, and anything to extend the season is ok in my book. It would also mean that the two pre-season games would probably be more competitive (probably played like the 3rd preseason game in the current NFL system) so they would actually be somewhat exciting to watch. Of course, more games means a bigger chance of injury and also players might wear down towards the end of the season. If they eliminate two preseason games, it's really only like adding 1 game to the season, since the starters usually play for a half during the preseason games.
