I haven't read much about possible June 1st cuts. The date is June 1st isn't it. Anyways does anyone have any guesses or hunches on who will be cut ? P.S. Is it me or has there just been very little to write about of late.
I think he was asking more whether June 1st is the official date that cuts will be made. ESPN said the activity won't be heavy tomorrow; David Patten of the Redskins is expected to be axed for one.
lol - I guess that makes sense. I've read quite a few articles that don't expect many cuts because of the new salary cap. Teams that needed to make cuts did so before the new agreement trying to get under the cap in case an agreement wasn't made. *sigh* - another month of no news.
In case anyone is interested, the two guys we picked up today. Reggie Newhouse Position: WR Height: 6-1 Weight: 191 Born: 02/16/1981 College: Baylor NFL Experience: 2 Released by Cardinals 40 Time: 4.62 SI Draft Grade: 3.17 BIO: Second-team All Big 12 choice the past two seasons. Led Baylor in receiving since he was a sophomore totaling 75 receptions for 1,140 yards with three scores in 2002 after 61-706-8 the prior year and 40-629-4 in 2000. Father Robert played for the Dallas Cowboys. POSITIVES: Sure-handed, cognizant receiver who does the little things well. Strong and gets off jams at the line of scrimmage, comes over the middle then gets up for the high throw, ex10ding to pluck the ball our of the air. Shields away opponents, intuitive and displays a good feel for the position. Always looking to make himself an available target. Effective blocking for the running game. NEGATIVES: Lacks top end speed as well as the size one wants in a big possession receiver. ANALYSIS: Very productive and found a way to get the job done for a beleaguered program the past three seasons. Comes from good blood lines and could find his way onto a roster as a squad's fifth receiver. PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent Rayshun Reed Position: DB Height: 5-9 Weight: 185 Born: 04/10/1981 College: Troy NFL Experience: 2 Released by 49ers 40 Time: 4.51 SI Draft Grade: 3.24 BIO: Three-year starter who totaled 65/1/13 as a senior. Suffered a season-ending knee injury after the first game of the 2002 season and underwent surgery. Defensive numbers were 57/6/13 as a junior in 2001. POSITIVES: Athletic defensive back with top cover skills and the versatility to be used at safety or cornerback. Keeps the action in front of him, displays an explosive burst of closing speed and takes good angles to the play. Goes hard sideline-to-sideline, never out of position in pass coverage and makes a lot of plays on the football. Fluid hips and loses nothing in transition. NEGATIVES: Plays the ball rather than the man, which results in disaster. Timid and seemingly shies away from physical contact. Durability is a question. Possessing the athleticism and skills to play in the NFL, Reed could be a productive nickel back at the next level. Must become more physical if he wants a long career at the next level. ANALYSIS: Possessing the athleticism and skills to play in the NFL, Reed could be a prime nickel back at the next level. Medically must be cleared to play and needs to quickly turn up the physical intensity of his game if he wants a long career at the next level. PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
