I am with the Jets in this negotiation and think Revis isn't handling this the right way with 3 years left on his deal. However, I'm fine with the fans chanting that because I want Revis to feel good about this team and our fans. If they were booing him and the Jets start getting hostile with him he might start to really cause some problems... not that there is too much he can do when he's still under contract for 3 years.

He's an elite player in the NFL, and we want him to be a happy and positive contributor to this team.

    Revis MUST understand that:

    1) Asomongus' deal was BOGUS
    2) There is a salary Cap in the NFL
    3) There are a number of forces in the NFL that are making deal making a problem mostly the CBA
    4) If he wants to be the #1 paid CB then he's taking money from his teammates and hurting the talent of the team

If he thinks holding the NY Jets hostage and making them look bad in the media all based on that Raiders deal its the way to go then I have to start chanting DO NOT PAY REVIS!!!!!

I'd rather the fans were more knowlegeble and asked Revis if he really knew what being the #1 paid CB means and why a team like Oakland can overpay 1 player.

To chant PAY REVIS is just STUPID and to write yet another article that reads like the guy's agent wrote it only hurts the New York Jets.

Revis is better than Ty law. Period.

Now, I've said it a jillion times the CB's are overrated especially on this board.

But...100 Mil extension as I've laid out above will keep Revis well paid, Paid more than Aso over three, and keep his salary manageable till he's 33, and if that or a similar offer keeps him I'm all for it.

If that's not good enough, then either make him play for 1 million this year, then trade him, or ship his ass to Oakland right now. Let him try to get 100 mil after playing in that $#!thole for 3 years.

Right now there is no salary cap. With that being said there is 98+% chance that there will be one in the very near future.

The worst part of giving Revis a new deal now is that we have no idea how much the cap will be or what percentage of the cap Revis, Mangold, Brick, etc. will take up.

On top of that, we may need to have room available if Cromartie, Edwards, and Holmes become the three best players on our team (there is a good chance this actually could happen).

Thanks... But, yeah, teams are operating as if the cap is still there. Maybe I should have put an asterisk but, I think it's well known by now.

There's a word for that. And baseball got into much trouble for it.

    280 million in 1990.

    Yup.

Here's the plan. Have Tanny call all four agents, and tell them each to bring their client for a dinner meeting at a private room in a nice steakhouse.

When all the agents and the four players are in the room, Tanny should say,

'Here's the pile of money available for each of the next 6 years..I'll leave it to you four to decide..I'm going to have a quick drink at the bar and would like some numbers when I get back...'

The fact that the players play at the G.M. when in fact they are negotiating against their teammates is ludicrous.

100% agree. Don't forget, if he signs a reasonable deal for 6 years, he will get a shot at another big payday in 4 or 5 years when he is 28 if he continues to play well.

In other news Chris Johnson of the Titans is pulling the same stuff Revis is doing. Both got 3 years left on contract to.

Except Johnson wants to be the highest paid offensive player in the NFL. Thats insane.
