Wilson and Cro helping to win our second Supa Bo Trade Revis now for Asante Samuel and there next 2 first rounders. He makes 9 million in 2010 BTW-
Hence the 2 first rounders as well. Plus he'd be third on the depth chart, and I was not really being serious-
Jets future is looking extremely bright with Revis & Wilson. I have a feeling Cromartie will not be in their long plans
That's interesting, considering he played split-end and then flanker (after we got Edwards) last season.
The Eagles would never do this. Asante Samuel is not as good as Darrelle Revis, but the difference between them means almost nothing over the course of an NFL season. There are no extra wins in the difference between having Samuel and Revis in the defensive backfield. There are several wins in the difference between Drew Coleman and either Revis or Samuel but none in the difference between the two stars, even though Revis is clearly the better player.
The Jets seem to be planning to go with Cotchery and Edwards at FL and SE early on, and then with Cotchery and Holmes at FL and SE, with Edwards going to FL in the 3 receiver sets after Holmes returns. They might also be planning to put Edwards at FL on 1st down to keep defenders out of the box and then run Cotchery at FL from 2nd down until the passing downs and then at SL in those situations. The Jets have a lot of flexibility at this point.
I think it just speaks to how good a player Cotchery is. Being able to have clutch play at all wideout positions makes you a valuable commodity. He did pay a bit in the slot, but not enough to warrant being called a slot receiver, much less a premier slot receiver. But he is a good slot receiver.
That's what I have been thinking too. The Jets picked up Cro when they seemed sure a CB like Wilson would not be available for them in the 1st round. It all really depends on how Cro does this season, and if he will be able to argue for a large contract in 2011.
We'll see about Cromartie, his compensation could end up being a 2011 second rounder which is a premier draft pick. It'd be nice if he remembered that goodwill gesture of a salary advance he got earlier this year when his contract is up.
Again I was being sarcastic- In my perfect world there would be no salary cap and Woody Johnson would be the George Steinbrenner of the NFL.
Agreed. I wouldn't rule out us re-signing Cro though. Sure it depends on how well he plays but imo if he plays average he could stay. Of course if he plays lights out we won't have the money and if he sucks there's no point in keeping him... we'll see... Locking up Revis, Cromartie and Wilson wouldn't be fair to other teams
