Didn't see this posted, it's from Sunday. Keller ready for a breakout year Cimini Almost seems like Rich is trying to make an effort recently. Wonder why.
Love to hear this outta Keller. He disappointed last year, but I expect a very good year this year. I really think the better of the two scenarios mentioned will be the one that plays out, with him seeing more balls over the middle.
because he visits this site and sees us praising manish for putting a foot in cimini's ass talent wise.
He's off and on it seems. He was great in his rookie year and took a step back probably due to Sanchez. But the rapport between them in the playoffs was pretty exciting.
The Jets have a wonderful receiving corps for next season. They've got two topflight solid receivers in Cotchery and Holmes, potential breakout seasons from Edwards and Keller, and then they have LT who is still a very good outlet receiver. Basically they just need another guy who can catch the ball out of the backfield, in case LT goes over suddenly, and they're set for the year. Mark Sanchez has to be pinching himself to make sure he's not dreaming when he looks around the field at practice.
I just watched the best of Jets game 2009 and came away with a few impressions, one of which was how frickin good and under appreciated Cotchery is. The guy reminds me of Anquan Boldin with a little less speed. Once Holmes settles into the offense the receiving corps is going to be disgusting.
I'd always loved Cotchery. Over the years I'd want the ball floating towards him over everyone else... except maybe Coles.
Hahaha you know why.......... When the Jets go into a 4 set with Keller, Cotchery, Edwards and Holmes it will be sick. Then add the fact that LT is awesome catching out of the backfield. If Sanchez can handle that load and responsibility the Jets will be sick. Again how sick they will be hinges on Sanchez. Last year they had to dumb everything down, which is to be expected for a rookie with little starting experience and attempting to run an extremely complicated offense. With all these options and talent around him, I just hope he doesn't get sensory overload. That can happen pretty easy, especially to a fiery emotional guy like Sanchez. The Jets will be a fairly interesting. If Sanchez can handle it they are going to be "disgusting" for sure. Even if he can not they will still have a good running attack to fall back on.
Two articles have surfaced about Keller's expected emergence this year. I was going to start a thread about it but I wanted to wait until TC. Of course the beat writers have to spoil my prediction. I'm not surprised at his season last year. Sophomore year with a rookie QB in a run 1st offense. It was easy to know he wasn't going to be dynamic this season. Knowing him and Sanchez were clicking in the playoffs only means that it should carry into this season. People keep asking how he's going to get the ball with all this talent around him, but its actually easy to understand how he'll get so much attention. You can't cover everyone on this team when you have all 5 pass catchers out there. Edwards, Holmes, Cotch, Keller, and LT is beyond dangerous. Manning and Brees wish they had that kind of talent.
Keller, Cotchery, Edwards, Holmes, Tomlinson? Sanchez will have so many options this season, which means his numbers are going to improve considerably. With that attack we'll be able to move up 5 yards each down without the danger of an interception.
I'm not that familiar with McKnight, but just by watching a few of his highlight reels he has good hands for a runningback, and the length to be able to line up as a receiver.
It'll be fun to watch what Keller can do with a more experienced Sanchez at QB. He's going to win the speed/athleticism matchup over every defender covering him. As someone posted, that makes him an outstanding redzone target.
