From Randy on the Jets twit posts.

I'm kinda against it. I love Rex and offered myself as an adopted son but He's always chanting "go Yanks"

Sorry - get off the mound and don't disrespect my team. Love you Rexy! (no homo)

Rex likes the Yankees, and has attended a bunch of Yankees games. They should let him throw out the first pitch there some day.

Screw the Mets/Jets connection. I hate it when the Jets are always associated with that shitty team.

Yeah, yeah. Don't give me that whole "Mets are the working class team" bullshit. It's not even remotely true.

You sound like most Giants fans, when they talk about the Jets. Why hate?

    And, no, I don't give a s*** about baseball.

Atta boy Rex. Appeal to the Mets demographic. Widen the customer base.

When I wear Jet stuff and someone with Yankee stuff walks by me, they snicker at me because they presume I am a Met fan. I am a Jet/Yank fan. Rex is not a Yankee fan, he said so when talking to Kay in the booth. The man is a NY fan, he ain't stupid. Just glad to see he's the king of NY and Coughlin is no where to be found. Listening to the Giant coach after a Rex presser makes Tommy boy sound like AL Grogh.

It is entirely true. The Yankees (and Giants) were the established New York team way back when. As a result, their tickets were more expensive, and only white-collar folks could afford them. That's when the blue-collar workers started snapping up Mets (and Jets) tickets. In turn, their kids-- our generation, for the most part-- also became Mets/Jets fans... while there are plenty of stories that break this mould, generally, blue-collar parents still have kids who end up blue-collar as well.

The Mets, in particular, are still marketing to this fan base. Hence their David-Wright led "Citi Field was built by union contractors" campaign that was all over SNY last year. Like it or not, Mets are generally a blue-collar team. Just like the Jets.

The Mets are a blue collar team beacuse your multi million dollar 3rd baseman did a commercial for a union? The Yankees have people other then white people from the suburbs at their games. Did you ever see a hispanic or African American at a met game?
