It's kind of hard for me to be excited about this guy in 2010. I doubt he see's the field much this year.

Got to remember that Trich is an old man. Were going to have the lead a LOT this year, which means perfect time to give the old vet some rest and get the young guy some action along with possibly McKnight

Richardson is on his last legs. The Jets hesitated bringing him back and even contacted Lorenzo Neal about playing for the Jets before the brought Tony back. I have a feeling Conner will be active most of the season, and could very well end up taking starting duties near the end of the season, even if TRich is healthy.

Just like we used to have a WR for ST only (Wright) this year we'll have a FB for ST only (or at least 90%).

I see your point WSW but its guys like him that make preseason football so interesting. They get a ton of playing time and Im sure we will have a handle on him in that position soon enough.

Abyz also makes a good point. Richardson is in his last year and Im sure this kid will be in the mix, even if its somewhat limited.

Mystery solved. I like the last part best.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/374/john-connor-vs-the-terminator

So much for drops, iPods and the Kentucky Derby. Time for an Important Issue.

Anyone who has seen the movie The Terminator knows that John Connor is the leader of the resistance against the machines, and that The Terminator is trying to kill him. So how is it that fullback John Conner's nickname is the machine tracking him down?!

"I just go along with it and accept the nickname," Conner said with a laugh. "I've seen the movie. I know he's anti-Terminator, but I'll go ahead and take the name."

Even if it doesn't make perfect sense, Conner likes the nickname.

"I've had it since I was a kid, so I'm used to it," Conner said.

Today, Rex Ryan said he was impressed with his new fullback.

"You've got to get over the fact that he has no neck," Ryan said. "... He's a fullback. There's no question, he could've played in any era."
    Perhaps even, the future?

I always thought that kind of made sense, like when losers give their pets their last name. Frankenstein's Monster could have been Spot Frankenstein.

John Conner and The Terminator are rivals. A better comparison would be a Steelers fan nicknamed "Jet fan."

It's just a movie reference, no point to over think it.

It's like calling someone Predator with the name of a character in the movie.

    Who cares??

I was thinking the same thing but thought that the Jets coaching staff would have too much respect for T-Rich to do that to him. I know in this era of football there is very little loyalty but T-Rich is one of those guys, granted his play is on par with last season of course, to do that to.

Conner will be able to spell T-Rich and will most likely be a key element on special teams.

I feel the same way about him as a FB in '10, but I think he will be a beast on special teams for us this year.

(I'm sorry if someone else said this already, I'm drunk and didn't read the whole thread)

He's probably named after the title of the movie, not the character name.
