I don't like that so many writers are referencing ProFootballFocus to get their stats. That site follows their own rules for stat keeping.

*shrug* 100% of statistics are half bullshit.

Now I'm going to hide from statjeff.

My favorite is '90% of statistics are made up on the spot.'

An amazing read. I hate how the media lumps Braylon into the players who have "questionable attitudes" category on the Jets. It was because Braylon hated Cleveland and Mangini. Who wouldn't hate having to play on a team with a quarterback circus that Mangini ran last year? Despite acting out in Cleveland, he hasn't misbehaved in New York; a place a hundred times easier to get in trouble. Why can't those boneheads figure this out?

Who is this man? Seriously, what gives? Did Manish mistake him for Jerricho?

Sounds too good to be true, but one of Rex's strong points that seems to work is praising his players. We've seen it already. That's why I am not all that concerned about the crying over chemistry - at least not until there's even a single incident.

I've been a Braylon supporter since he's been here. A couple of drops on TD bombs still stretch the field, and he's made great grabs too. He's an important element.

Two things that I love about this:

    1. Manish Mehta is helping me forget about EBola

    2. Braylon Edwards is turning into a great team player at WR.

Edwards is maturing leaps and bounds, of course he wants to get paid but he knows it wont happen unless he gives the Jets and other teams a reason to this year.

that being said I think the taste of being 30 mins from the SB was a wake up call now that he should be entering into the prime of his career.

loving what I hear, some players say good things but this is EXACTLY what I'd want my players saying.

I think the infusion of talent in the offseason has everyone realizing its time to just get your ass in gear cause this organization is only about championships now.

alot of teams talk that talk, but since rex got here and Woody has become more active its becoming visible from the top down.

I agree with all of that. It is possible for him to be truly dedicated to the team winning and still care about his contract status. I guess what I was thinking was that if he was playing for 500k he would probably have a bit of an issue with that.

I'm loving this offseason more and more each day.

Oh yeah, and Manish Mehta is a breath of fresh air.

I think you might be right about this. Edwards' entire time with the Browns they had never made the playoffs and all but the 2007 season were disastrous losing seasons. He hasn't had the chance to play with a team with a winning attitude until he played for the Jets. Something to think about.

Lets' hope this motivation translates into total dominance on the field.

    Translation.

Edwards knows that as of this moment, he's not in that top tier of Jets looking for new contracts (Revis, Mangold, Ferguson, Harris). He's in the second tier of relatively new guys who might all be fighting for one big contract (Edwards, Holmes, Cromartie).

Nobody's ever called Edwards stupid that I've seen, and it seems like in this case he's reading the writing on the wall fairly well. There's a lot of great players looking to get big contracts from the Jets right now, and if he wants to be one of the guys who gets one, he has to get a little more done on the field. If he turns in 80 catches and 1200 yards this year, he's getting his money, either here or somewhere else. At the moment, he's a question mark, he's got no leverage.

Personally, my guess is this actually behind maybe only Revis in terms of Tannenbaum's priorities to keep. This team went through hell for the entirety of the decade after Keyshawn left looking for a wide receiver with the complete package, I just really can't imagine him letting Edwards get away with that in mind. I think Holmes would have to be really mind blowingly great this season to steal that contract from Edwards' pocket.

Good news! Hopefully this is a break out year for Edwards. Drops way down TDs way up. He seems to like the team and that is a good sign.

he had 4 drops last season! The only reason people see him as having a problem of the dropsies is because they want to.

No, it is because the drops he dropped were a) easy catches; and b) were important

Still, after looking at the numbers Manish wrote, I feel a whole lot better now.
