Thank god The Daily News gave Manish a shot. He is already head and shoulders above the previous beat writer. This is stuff I can not recall getting from beat writers, well at least not interesting stuff. The old guy would have talked about the missed tackles and how Leonhard was helping him to not miss assignments. Manwhat a negative piece of shit. You do not have to be a ra-ra guy just give us something interesting to read..........
Old guy would have mentioned Kerry Rhodes in this article. I've been waiting for a Don Warren update; unfortunately, this seems like least newsy Mehta article yet. "Rookie asks football questions of veteran." Okay... Hopefully, unparalleled success is in store from Jimmy Leonhard, Donny Warren and Manny Mehta.
I can definitely see Warren making this team and eventually becoming a contributor. Between him and Basped who is apparently turning heads so far, it's like we had extra late round picks.
It is absolutely true there was not a ton of substance. Dont you miss these reports: " Well Revis and his agent are publicly saying that they are studying the Jets proposal and considering their recourse. However, privately I am hearing from various anonymous sources that they are prepared to tell the Jets to fuck themselves. He is not going to be a Jet after 2012. Furthermore my anonymous sources are saying Woody Johnson is about to file for bankruptcy and can't give a huge contract. The new stadium is going to collapse into a giant sinkhole and the new practice facility in Florham Park has been recognized as ground zero for the aids virus". I know I really miss those..........lol
Warren can definitely turn into one of the premier steals of this year's draft with some hard work and mentoring. I think he's well on his way to becoming a more than capable player in the league for a long time to come.
I'm wondering who is the odd-man-out at the safety-position? (because 5 safety's are a lot) we actually have Leonhard, Pool, Smith, Ihedigbo and Warren. So it should be between Ihedigbo and Warren. Or maybe Warren gets a roster spot as a hybrid Corner/Saftey..
I don't know - it's definitely possible for him to take that route, but he's a very, very good tackler that had a first to second round grade early in 2009. I think he'll make the team as a special teamer - there's too much of a need there. Warren just has to beat out Cole and Coleman. The only non-starting defensive back we have that will actually get snaps on defense are James Ihedigbo and Eric Smith. I think Ryan will value Warren's versatility. We only have 9 or 10 defensive backs on the roster - you have to carry that many because a few of them will be special teamers.
Don't disrespect the man. Mehta is a journalist. Salguero is an unprincipled hack. Mehta = man with integrity Salguero = angry monkey furiously humping a football
I think we'll carry 11 DBs in total... one will be a fast CB (Coleman or Cole) for strictly ST duties (what Carroll used to be). After that I don't care if it's 5 CBs and 5 S or 6 and 4... all in all guys like Lowery and Warren can both line up as CBs in the middle vs the slot or FS... that gives us flexibilty. CBs: Revis Cromartie Wilson Lowery S: Leonhard Pool Smith Ihedigbo (blitzing and ST value) That's 8... really good battle for the last 2 spots! I'm rooting for Warren and Bo Smith with M. Cole making it as a ST guy (11th guy)...
I've heard that the reason Mike T is so aggressive moving up on draft day and trading away late picks is exactly this. He believes the same value can be had with undrafted free agents as you could get from a late round pick.
