dont get me wrong...im a big fan of the cromartie trade....but from what i've heard from chargers fans the greene play was just a sample of an effort problem...could it be he just needed a change of scenery? very possible...or is it something else? of course tackling a 230 back would be a challenge for a DB especially a guy with Greenes running style...but in all reality he didn't make an effort to tackle him to begin with. all im saying is until i see otherwise I have to go with what I hear from Chargers fans (which isn't saying much). obviously there is a reason the chargers let him go and this is undoubtedly it. If its an effort thing that is very correctable and I think if it will be corrected anywhere its on this team... all im saying is its a wait and see thing
I don't disagree there was a reason he was let go, and that lack of effort is probably as good a reason as anyone can come up with. It's the coverage and ball skills that I'm interested in, particularly in this defense. If he can come away with 6-8 INT's with a couple of TD's and he misses a few tackles along the way - I can live with that.
+1 If he can put up those kind of numbers then I can definitely live with that... The question is will the effort be corrected and if not will that get in the way of his performance allowing him to put up those numbers? Because he is certainly physically capable of it and is probably the best natural athlete on the team. I fully support the move and have the believe he will turn that around. As a point of comparison I think Cromartie has a better chance of getting over his mental hurdle than Braylon does with his...
it depends on when he misses those tackles. If the Jets are up by more than 17pts, I won't care. But if he pulls what he did when he did it against the Jets, we'll all call for his head and no contract extension. That being said, I think he'll do really well here. Its his kind of defense, the Jets play.
Cro is actually a fairly big guy himself. Hes officially listed as 6'2" and 203lbs, but I think Revis said the other day that he was more like 6'3", weight wise hes not giving up that much, but as a taller player may find it more difficult to make that kind of cutting tackle thats needed for by lighter players. Once again, Revis is excellent at doing this. From the SD game though it did look like a lack of effort. I'm really pulling for Cro this season and hope he has an excellent season. For himself and us.
cro isn't very physical, but he NASTY at man to man coverage. He dont get the respect he deserves, trust me. People are too quick to look at a corner's int numbers and judge em based off of that, but that dont tell the whole story
If our corners are having to solo tackle running backs on a regular basis,we have way bigger problems to worry about. I have no idea why people keep bringing that up. For a guy that bulldooze linebackers you think it's a shock he can do that to a corner? as long as he plays well in coverage who gives a shit if he's not hitting like a safety.
