I managed to catch on ESPN radio last night, they were talking about the Jets and how the FO is showing absolutely no loyalty to players by acquiring them and then cutting them years later even if they are still producing-i.e. not showing any loyalty to the players. Obviously this is a big backlash coming from ESPN about the letting of Thomas Jones and Alan Faneca, but will this really affect the team that much? I've heard of Jones always being liked in the locker room, but I never heard anything about Faneca being the center of the locker room. Do you this come to bite them in the ass?
Look. The entire NFL is hoping this franchise implodes this season. And they have a legitimate reason to hope so. Just pray that it doesn't occur to the level where things go haywire - then the season is over.
Also, to add to that, did anyone else hear it on ESPN radio last night? It was a woman talking, I couldn't make out who it was. She said things like "We show no respect to Clemens" (like its a bad thing). It was the first negative reporting done on the Jets I've heard in a while.
ESPN doesn't know what they're talking about. We have less new starters this year then last year....and last year went pretty well right? If you become too loyal to players then your team will not be good, you have to make the tough football decisions if they are correct. Thomas Jones and Alan Faneca simply could not perform to their previous levels anymore, and the management did the right thing by letting them go so they won't hurt us. ...oh and there are a few threads just like this.
I noticed that too. Why? Tge Jets are finally getting some respect, mostly because of the brash talking coach, but from the scoreboard as well....and now everyone is sinking us faster than the Titanic. Talk about a bunch of flip floppers...
With Rex Ryan as a coach, and the players being in the AFC Champ game I think they realize it's business time. Chemistry an issue? Doubt it. All I know is a big portion of the team went to Las Vegas last weekend to see the Mayweather fight, and apparently had a great time, so they are building a relationship between each other. Plus Rex has them get out of NYC/Jersey during summer camps to be with each other, and all that shit. Rex has a solution for chemistry problems.
Good news doesn't get half as much attention as bad news type stories. ESPN should shut its cake hole .
The media isn't good at telling us how to think...but they're damn good at telling us what to think about!
The steelers show no loyalty to players, they win rings a lot. fuck this chemistry shit, its fucking gay now.. its the only thing to pin on the Jets. The only aspect of the team that news outlets can find to talk about. when its not an issue, expect ESPN to deepthroat this team like no other
Chemistry is overrated in the offseason. On Day 1, the chemistry will be there, don't worry. Rex will make it happen.
Cotch is on SNY and he was asked about chemistry, and he basically said other players will step up as leaders and they wouldn't miss a beat. Once TC starts, they'll be enough chemistry to make a meth lab.
We added and released quite a few players last year and no one cried about chemistry. The chemistry was developed in training camp and throughout the course of the season. It wasn't carried over from 2008. Same thing here. Once these guys are on the field it will develop. To me this is such a non-issue that's getting blown way out of proportion.
Yes. Most of our players are Communication or Poli-Sci majors, no way they can get through Chemistry.
losing a leader like thomas jones leaves a void that the younger players will embrace and start looking at themselves and at each other for leadership. Players we have never used the word 'leader' with before will emerge as the next generation generals. Plus the younger players will have a greater sense of this being 'their' team once the old gaurd falls away.
The Yankees will suck this year after not being loyal to Johnny Damon and Hideki Matsui. Oh. Wait. The Patriots have never had loyalty to any players under Belichick and we've seen how that's failed them, right? Oh. Wait. Loyalty and chemistry are overrated by fans. Yes, there has to be chemistry in the locker in most cases, but these guys are professionals. Even if they work with someone they dislike, they'll coexist well enough to do their jobs. Mangold espressed a lot of sadness over losing Faneca, but at the same time expressed his understanding of the business and accepted it. Other Jets have discussed the same thing on Twitter over the past few weeks.
You can say this about any team. It will only be an issue for the Jets if they lose a bunch of games.
