I really wished he asked Myron Rolle this question. He would have probably punched him in the face, kicked him in the balls, told him to go back to fucking his sister and then would have left, gone on to med school and 20 years from now he would buy the team and fire him.
Wow, Shaun O'Hara? You're right, I no longer find this offensive and deplorable. And Gerhart's question doesn't even make sense. Is it supposed to see his response to reverse racism? I'd think the best test of that would be determined by the fact that he hasn't punched anyone out while being a white halfback in the FBS Division of the NCAA. If this type of question was meant to dhow he would react, whoever came up with that needs to be fired due to incompetence.
Ireland apologized... I'm too lazy to look for the link, but it happened. Redzone.com has it in their top news
I apologize for bringing words from the mouth of an actual NFL player that are relevant to the discussion into the thread. I should have considered how this might infringe upon your right to take offense on the behalf of an individual you've never met. But wait! I'm being insensitive! I'm also infringing upon your right to straw man arguments considering I neversaid I approved of the questions being asked; I only pointed out how they weren't atypical. Don't let it stop you from finding more avenues to exercise that acerbic wit that I so enjoy; it's like the Daly Show commercials of my life in that it's not particularly funny but manages to be preachy nonetheless. What I'm telling is something that's not an opinion, it's a stated fact from a player. Your opinion is obviously that these questions aren't appropriate, necessary, or called for. That's nice. The reality of the situation is that this isn't uncommon and that these guys aren't being singled out. Just like nearly every other instance of douchebaggery you hear about in sports, this is nothing new. We're only hearing about this now because the coverage is better. If you don't like hearing about it, fine. Is it really necessary to be a dick because you don't like real information? FWIW, I think that questioning players like this is uncalled for and classless. Having said that, I'm going to need some time to find sympathy for guys that are going to get paid millions of dollars a year to play a kids game.
Reported! On a serious note, the fact that it happens more doesn't make me feel any less angry about it happening. These are some of the worst questions I have ever heard and I really don't care what they were intended to ask. Asking someone if their mother is a whore during a job interview, asking them an asinine question about race, or straight up calling them a traitor and a coward are much different from asking what separates you from the players at your position that came out of your college program failed. Frequency does not necessarily make it right. The overarching point is that questions like these are not really informative or effective in gaging much during a job interview. Frankly the Robiskie/Laurinaitis seem to be well below the level of what was supposedly asked of Bryant, Gerhart and Rolle. Do you have any more examples of what are the norm? Oh, and I've never really seen the Daly Show. Do you have any tapes I can borrow?
I do have tapes of the Daly Show. I actually watch them to laugh/rub one out after rough days at work. Speaking of which, today was one of those. My bad for snapping earlier. I don't have other examples of questions on hand, but I might able to get an inquiry to Mr. O'Hara about this and see what he has to say. It is bullshit to treat another person this way but, speaking as someone who can have his license to work revoked if he misses a credit card payment, it happens. I'll ask though, O'Hara exchanges text messages with a friend of a friend from the office frequently. The guy had leukemia and, due to a charitable outreach on O'Hara's part, got to meet him and actually go in the Giants' locker room. I'll ask him to ask about it.
Lol, no worries. Yea, there is a big difference between asking a reasonable question like an asshole and asking an asshole question. I realize a lot of coaches don't really have...people skills. But bullshit like that is just way out of line, which was the original point I was trying to make. "Why should I think that you aren't going to fail like every other ASU WR that came into this league?" is a lot different than "Did you feel that you stabbed your teammates in the back when you decided to study instead of taking extra reps the night before your exams?" or, "Do you decide to suck more cock after a game when you drop a pass?" Of course Rolle probably had the least cause to be pissed off out of the three of them. He knew going into that interview that every member of that team and every coach was proud of him and happy for him.
Here is a clip from a recent Jeff Ireland interview: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/f02d0b8cca/word-association-from-nino
theres a difference between being yelled at by drunk fans. and an executive sitting you down in his office, staring you in the eyes and asking that question as if it were completely pertinent. or any of his business. if this were any other industry hed have been reprimanded by now. last time I checked the NFL operates in the US. and should be under the same scrutiny as any other industry. I mean, thats why Goddell is cracking down on everything right? lets see just HOW hypocritical they actually are.
Well put Coach. Heres something to think about. If these questions are truely test questions, I guess the Titans were satisfied with LaGarrette Blounts handling of these types of questions when they signed him.
I saw this story this morning and laughed. I figured I'd file it under "F'd up and funny" and move on, but just for grins I looked in on Finheaven and they're really friggin pissed about this in Phinland. I know they feel like he totally disrespected JT, and now this. You guys think he gets fired? Not that I care that much, just like watching Miami in turmoil:rofl:
