we lost 5 games by 5 points or less, cause we had a rookie qb, he's not a rookie anymore.

    learn your history!

I'll say....remember all the flack about 3 unproven QB's on our roster? This team wasn't going anywhere with a rookie, how can we go into the season with no veteran QB, whatever. The one guy I really did not want to see go was Feely, other than that I understand these other moves, especially for the long term. Bottom line....Mike and Rex have my trust.......

C'mon man, you gotta be reasonable and face the facts. We're not elite. One of those 5-point losses was against the horrible horrible Bills in OT where they gave the Jets every chance to win and we still found a way to lose. Another one was against the pathetic Falcons. Jacksonville was not a good team either and we lost to them. It's not like these close losses were against great teams. And Sanchez still has a lot to prove over a 16-game season before we can just pencil him in for like 20 TDs and 3500 yards passing or whatever.

Believe me, I hope we win it all this year and become truly elite, but that's not what we are right now.

Mike T and Rex haven't given us any reason to doubt them. Let's have some faith until they do something that gives us reason not to.

    LOL.

Yeah, it's a bit soon to be telling people not to be upset about the moves. I understand them from a play perspective, but even I had my moment of consternation over the Faneca move.

Someone like junc, who has been saying for months that he wants to keep Leon under any circumstances, is going to be pretty understandably pissed when he goes for a mid-5th, essentially. Give it some time. Emotions are high.

As was I, I wasn't thrilled about that move (still not either) but we didn't go apeshit. Why is it so hard for people to be level headed and not make stupid ass same old jets threads? It's retarded, clutters the board and doesn't even invite discussion on the topic

Yes, but at this point, the gladys pick is simply accepted. Other than that, Tanny n the FO has done rather well.

    Awesome point.

Fuck Tannenbaum, he's clueless. He can't be trusted to make any good picks.

I can't believe how some of us are passing such harsh judgement on the Jets. It is freaking April people. Was I in shock with the moves? Yes. Did I have a hard time understanding why they did what they did? Yes. Should I choose to stick by my beloved Jets NO MATTER what they do? Yes. It is way to early to be giving the front office a hard time. There is a chance that Leon could be half the player he was before he suffered a compound break on his leg. Faneca is a liability in pass pro. Complaining and crying will do you no good what is done is done. If Sexy Rexy is down with these moves so am I as we all shoulod be. The man has forgotten more about football than all Jets fan will ever know. Just ride the wave and see where it takes us.
The defense is going to carry this team the offense scores 10-17 a game and the Jets will be in every game. The OP is right chill out.

Except we were 9-7 with a rookie quarterback who made quantum leaps in the playoffs from a bad regular season (a decent QB like Chad probably gets us 12-4 with last year's team with all the close games we lost due to Sanchez's turnovers), and we've gotten better talentwise since then on offense and defense.

The only loss that worries me is Feely, it's taken us so long to get a good kicker and now we're starting at square one again. Bad kicking can cost you games just as easily as 25 turnovers from the QB.

My only issue with this draft is not drafting something, anything, a f***in' stuffed bunny at least, for our D-line. Yes, it's a big deal. No, your rant didn't deserve it's own thread.

I also question the Faneca move. We already paid him $5.25mil, and we're looking to recoup just $2.25mil back? We might as well have eatin' it and gotten something out of it. Vlad needs a year, why not have him learn behind a future HOFer? It's a waste, and makes no sense to me.

That said, I do trust Tanny/Rex. But I will call questionable moves into question. As a fan, I reserve that right. You can play cattle, I'll think for myself.

EDIT: Let it be known, too, that I love all our picks. I don't question who we got, just who we didn't.

    Everyone does need to chill...

I was reading SOJs, MikeT is on the hotseat, etc. etc.

MikeT has built this team to a winner, and people who read about the draft for 4 weeks question moves he does.

    Classic.

I was shocked when Leon was traded and Faneca released. But I do agree with you that what Mr T. has done in this draft is an excellent job. I am ready for the next step.

How many of those loses were because we could not score/ Enter LT, and holmes

How many were because we had a rookie QB throwing picks?

How many were on or lack of depth at CB?

Scoring was the problem. Along with Anyone not named revis.

Im kind of torn on the Faneca release. On one hand, this is a free cap year..whats the big deal about keeping him around. I do not believe for a minute the Jets did it now to be good guys and give Faneca a chance to hook up with a team of his liking. I do not understand the urgency...but I guess this was the game plan for a while now.

On the other hand..have read a few posts comparing this to the Jets releasing Kendall. That was Dbricks and Mangolds rookie year and that was stupid. Both Center and LT are veterans and great players now...so whoever gets stuck in between them will have an excellent chance to prosper.

Bottom line is..the front office thought Faneca had declined to the point that he was now bringing much less to the table.

I will miss Faneca and Leon when I concentrate on the good memories. Its like an old GF. You'll want them if you focus on all the good, and forget that down the road, they would have dragged you down with them.

Same with LW and Faneca... A horrid injury and no role on this team anymore, all the while wanting a big contract. An old warrior with declining effectiveness.

Would you rather wait for them to be horrid, and call for their heads, as well as the CS/FO. Or see them replaced before they hit bottom, be angry in the hours after, but know that who has come in to replace them are going to keep things status quo or improve the team?

    I vote for the latter.
