jason babin would be a huge addition. hes a young and very talented player who is a perfect at 3-4 OLB. Allen Rossum would also be a nice addition.
Jason Babin would be interesting ..He hasn't lived up to the billing yet . But maybe Mangini and Sutton can tap some of that talent he's still young .With that said I dont think he's getting cut
Rossum would be good but we dont need another cb or punt returner, Babin would be very good cause he' has the perfect 3-4 lb build.Mangini should be able to get more out of him.
Jason Babin-Prospect Profile OVERVIEW Outstanding pass rusher and two-time All-American who is one of the fastest down linemen in the game of football … The former high school state wrestling champion also excels on special teams, using his excellent leaping ability to block three punts during his career … The Defensive Hard Hat Award winner also saw time on offense the last two years, blocking in the Power-I formation … Started 25 of 47 games for the Broncos, recording 299 tackles (202 solos) with 38 sacks for minus-188 yards, 75 stops for losses of 283 yards, 43 quarterback pressures, eight forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two pass deflections and three receptions for 35 yards (11.7 avg) … His 38 sacks topped the old school career-record of 34 by Joel Smeenge (1986-89) and his 75 stops behind the line of scrimmage broke Smeenge's previous WMU record of 66. ANALYSIS Positives: Has good body structure with a thick chest, broad shoulders and developing thighs and calves … Leader by example who needs to be accounted for by the opponent … Plays with pain, practices hard and has outstanding character off the field … Has good short-area quickness and acceleration, quickly locating the ball … Shows above-average lateral agility and good effort in his pursuit to the ball … Effective wrap-up tackler who stays low in his pads and drives hard with his legs to rock the ball carriers back … Very effective edge rusher who uses his hands well to grab and maintain position … Has good flexibility and knee bend to get down the line of scrimmage … Has the sudden burst to close on the quarterback and inside run plays. Negatives: Timed speed is deceptive, as the player shed 20 pounds before his workout and generally plays in the 280-pound range … Not as explosive when he's at his playing weight … Shows strength against the run, but does not split the double team or neutralize blockers when engaging in head-up action … Weight-room strength does not translate to the football field (would rather elude than take on the blocker) … Uses his hands well, but is not a hit-and-shed type … Best pass rushing off the edge, as he would rather not take on and defeat the offensive tackle or tight end (tries to throw rather than use shed moves to disengage). AGILITY TESTS Timed at 4.69 in the 40-yard dash … 460-pound bench press … 540-pound squat … 383-pound power clean … 405-pound incline press … 34-inch vertical jump … 9-foot-8 broad jump … 4.03 in the 20-yard shuttle … 33 1/8-inch arm length … 9 7/8-inch hands … Right-handed.
I would love to see babin in a jets uniform, but where did you get the info on all these cuts?? I don't see texans cutting all those players
babin would be great (if he's cut). He is a good 3-4 pass rushing linebacker. I believe but im not sure about it, that he played some DE so in a 3-4 he can be a linebacker and in a 4-3 he could play end (theoretically). Would be an excellent addition
Wong is probably the best of the four but I think he would play inside here and we have plenty of guys that are trying to move to the inside already. Babin would be the guy fitting the biggest need but if he couldn't hack it in Houston...
I like Babin, he's perfect for as a 3-4 pass rusher and is still very young, don't see him getting cut though.
thats were u might be wrong....heres part of an article from the jets site Houston Texans DE Jason Babin is a former 1st-round draft choice who is scheduled to make nearly $1.3M this season. For the past two seasons he has been a fixture in the Texans 3-4 defense at OLB, a position that takes advantage of his outstanding athleticism and pass rush ability. But new head coach Gary Kubiak is installing a 4-3 scheme that will force Babin to move to DE and play with his hand down. That’s not his strength, and at 6-3, 252, he lacks the size and bulk to play in the trenches in that kind of defense. As a result, he is listed as the 3rd RDE on the team’s depth chart. The Texans don’t figure to pay that kind of money to a player who doesn’t figure to be even a primary backup, and aren’t likely to keep him around if he doesn’t fit what they plan to do on defense. He’s a young, talented player who would be an excellent fit for the Jets new defensive scheme.
These guys are all mentioned in an article on newyorkjets.com about June 1 cuts that could fit the Jets O&D schemes.
Babin... We have dwight for the punt returns.. Miller will probably return kickoffs.. Along with dwight.
I'm not sure I'd sign anybody on June 1st. The Jets aren't a player or two away from a playoff run, they're rebuilding. The way to do that is to actually play your young players and a) find out if they can play and b) get them some experience if they can.
McNair has a ton of money, Babin won't be cut, he'll probably be a third-down pass rush specialist (ala robert mathis) most teams aren't in cap trouble with the cap bump, hardly anyone will be cut, especially young guys, and especially not one's with large numbers do even a tad bit of research before you post, the people who write for the jets site aren't all that great, teams make so much money (the majority), that players who've already recieved bonus's won't be cut (about the only team in desperate cap trouble is the titans, who are in that every year because floyd reese is a complete idiot on how to structure contracts and make use of the cap system the right way)
