I would love to see this guy line up with Greene or LT to keep greene fresh do you think there is any way we would be able to get him in addition to a OLB or O-Lineman it would be a punishing backfield to defend in the fouth quarter no one would want to get in thier way while they are running downhill
If we had another 3rd round pick then maybe, but I don't see us going RB when we still need to address depth issues on both lines.
I absolutely think it's possible, although the most likely scenario has us addressing our aging D-line and building depth in the O-line. I know the Jets brought him in for a workout - but obviously that means nothing. Did we bring in Wilson for a work out?
I love Toby Gerhart, but we really need D-Line help. It would take a couple of trades which gave us extra 3rd or 4th round picks before we could spend a 2nd on a RB. Even then, it's unlikely.
I'm not sure. I know that Rex Ryan really, really like Kyle Wilson during Senior Bowl week. The two joked around a lot...mainly about the Kyle Wilson RV.
If we trade back then I would definitely hope we take him. Right now, I'd rather see some DLine help.
don't forget we did sign that (DE?) Rodriquez Wright(sp?) guy. They even had him on the "Added" ticker on ESPN. Should be decent depth. Don't know if he can start...actually, i don't know anything about this guy except what is said here. what do i know? Can't have enough big bones on the D-Line.
They just mentioned on some internet radio station, that Toby is going to get a hard look at by the Ravens and Giants.
agreed. i don't have to much faith in Turner, Hunter or Snausages. Turner/Hunter decent backups, don't know about starting though.
Maybe it did and that's why they are axing(?) Faneca? All along i had a funny feeling we would go O-line in the 1st and i guess if that "trade up" try was true i was right, but who knows. I just can't see us not drafting Woody & Faneca's replacements. We need dept there BAD!
I wouldn't be too thrilled with Gerhart. Radio city would probably cheer the pick but ultimately we need some trench depth/skill in this draft early-on. I'd be shocked if we chose a position outside of DE/OG.
If we picked him we'd have one really crowded backfield and I don't think the Jets are in a position to add a rookie to a backfield with 3 very talented RBs and an aging fullback. We need to go after O-line depth, a safety, or a D-lineman with the next pick and we're only picking once today....so I don't see how we can afford to pick Gerhart. Whoever takes him will likely be a team that needs a 3rd RB to spell a main ball carrier. He doesn't have the juice to be a starter in the league but I think he can produce in spots. I think 4 years from now Gerhart will be a guy who probably touches the ball every game but will always be a 3-10 carry guy....but a guy who can probably assume a shared role if a starter goes down.
Would love to pick him up as an HB/FB (richardson is getting up there)....but i just can't see it happening. He'd have to slip past the 3rd and that just doesn't seem likely.
