Here is my Jets Big Board combining both Talent and Need: 1. Ndamukong Suh, DE 2. Eric Berry, S 3. Earl Thomas, S 4. Dan Williams, NT 5. Kyle Wilson, CB 6. Anthony Davis, RT 7. Mike Iupati, OG 8. Maurkice Pouncey, OG 9. Joe Haden, CB 10. Brandon Graham, OLB 11. Derrick Morgan, OLB 12. Sergio Kindle, OLB 13. Jared Odrick, DE 14. Devin McCourty, CB 15. Dez Bryant, WR 16. Demaryius Thomas, WR 17. Linval Joseph, DE 18. Terrence Cody, NT 19. Kareem Jackson, CB 20. Jerry Hughes, OLB 21. Charles Brown, RT 22. Roger Saffold, RT 23. Nate Allen, S 24. Tyson Alualu, DE 25. Vladimir Ducasse, OL 26. Jermaine Gresham, TE 27. Ricky Sapp, OLB 28. Cam Thomas, NT 29. Lamarr Houston, DE 30. Taylor Mays, S I have Okung, Williams and Bulaga projected as LTs in the NFL. I have my own player rankings in a saved document. If anyone feels the need to see them, let me know.
I don't consider McCoy a 3-4 player so I didn't include him. They won't even be looking at him. Even if the Jets trade into the Top 3, McCoy won't be the reason. If I have to put him in there he'd probably be behind Thomas. I have the OGs ahead of Graham because of the Taylor signing and the need for depth on the OL (especially if Faneca is gone).
I disagree. Suh gets more leverage and is just overall, a stronger man. He really drives OL backwards. McCoy is quicker and more crafty (he is also strong, but not as strong as Suh). I don't think there's a doubt in anyone's mind who the better 3-4 player is out of the two so I'm surprised your bringing this up.
McCoy can play in a 3-4, just ideally suited as a 3 tech, same size as Odrick. According to your draft board we are getting McCourty, which I could live with. I have a feeling Mays isn't in our top 50.
Cornerbacks Kyle Wilson Joe Haden Devin McCourty Kareem Jackson Chris Cook Brandon Ghee Akwasi Owusu-Ansah Patrick Robinson Amari Spievey Dominique Franks Perrish Cox Javier Arenas 3-4 Defensive Ends Ndamukong Suh Jared Odrick Linval Joseph Tyson Alualu Lamarr Houston Alex Carrington Corey Peters CJ Wilson Mike Neal Earl Mitchell Nose Tackles Dan Williams Terrence Cody Cam Thomas Arthur Jones Torell Troup Safeties Eric Berry Earl Thomas Nate Allen Taylor Mays Morgan Burnett Chad Jones Major Wright Myron Rolle Offensive Linemen (basically only LT + C are set for the future) Russell Okung (projects to LT) Bryan Bulaga (projects to LT) Trent Williams (projects to LT) Anthony Davis Mike Iupati Maurkice Pouncey Charles Brown Roger Saffold Vladimir Ducasse Jared Veldheer John Jerry Zane Beadles Wide Receivers Dez Bryant Demaryius Thomas Golden Tate Arrelious Benn Damian Williams Taylor Price Brandon Lafell Jordan Shipley Andre Roberts Eric Decker Carlton Mitchell Mike Williams Mardy Gilyard Dezmon Briscoe David Reed 3-4 Outside Linebackers Brandon Graham Derrick Morgan Sergio Kindle Jerry Hughes Ricky Sapp Everson Griffen Jason Worilds Eric Norwood Thadeus Gibson Jermaine Cunningham Greg Hardy Brandon Lang Lindsey Witten Tight Ends Jermaine Gresham Rob Gronkowski Jimmy Graham Dennis Pitta Anthony McCoy Ed Dickson Colin Peek Now, what positions should carry the most weight? In my opinion it should go like this (assuming Taylor is Rex's pass-rushing OLB and Leon remains a Jet): 1. 3-4 Defensive End 2. Offensive Line 3. Cornerback 4. Safety 5. Nose Tackle 6. Outside Linebacker 7. Wide Receiver 8. Tight End
McCoy would be a fine 3-4 DE but I feel like his strengths wouldn't be used to his or our advantage in our system. If it bothers you all so much then you can all put him in behind Berry on my board but there's no point quarreling over a guy we won't be picking.
