The umpiring has been ATROCIOUS this year in almost every game I've seen. It's like they got together and decided to suck this year.
^ Couldn't be worse than my beer league umpiring. The ump last weekend had a post card sized strike zone...the other team teed up my pitcher I was running a marathon in left field.
Ugh...100 pitches through 5.1 for Vaquez...I assume after that double he is being taken out of the game..

Kind of the opposite, no? Vazquez was awesome the first half of 2004. He fell off in the second half (supposedly because of a slight injury). He'll be fine, though.
I'm pretty pissed off at the people around Yankees fandom taking shots at those who booed Vazquez yesterday. While I agree that no one should be booing Teixeira, Javy shouldn't be immune. Now I understand it's only two games in, and he'll probably rebound, but what does he expect? He left as a goat, pitched well in the league we always deride as less offensively talented, and came back with two shitty outings. Not to mention he was traded for a fan favorite player. If I were at the game, I wouldn't have booed. That's just me, and only because it's still so early. I still hope he'll be fine. I wouldn't begrudge anyone who did boo though. And those who do are the ones who are the assholes. Anyway, it's a new day. Time for Hughes' unveiling, so I'm pretty excited. And since it's a new day, it needs to be said: Fuck Nick Johnson Fuck Bubba Gardner Fuck Javier Vazquez (yes, he's a new addition.)
