So, what's with Teixiera? Last year he sucked in April but that meant hitting .200 and he didn't have Arod batting behind him. This year he is toying with .100 and Arod has been there every game. It's not the weather.
Teixeira has had a shitty April in almost every year of his career. Last year, it happened to coincide with A-Rod coming back and everyone said, "Oh, he has protection now." But, really, Tex just almost always starts slow.
I haven't seen it...I assume his fastball was flat like his last outing. The ball stayed on one plane from his hand to the plate.
Yea, that guy pisses me off  Although to be completely honest, I hate that he is hitting in the 2 hole.
Just go look at his career. Every single year he starts off very slow, and then turns get better and better each month. I told my dad last year "You're gonna get pissed when Tex starts slow, but he will be our MVP." Look how that turned out. This Nick Johnson hate is just blind and getting pretty dumb. I'll say it again, he will cross the plate more times this year than Damon did last year (107). If you wanna cry about "oh the DH HAS to hit home runs" or "all he does is walk" then I don't know what to tell you. We have enough guys who can drive runs in. Extremely happy at the team and crowd reaction for Matsui, solid game overall except for Robertson (Abreau is on the opposing fantasy team I'm facing grrr). EDIT: Just so people know, I am comparing Damon to Johnson only because of Johnson being our new number 2 hitter. I am in no way saying they are similar players.
So what? It's not like scoring runs is the point of baseball or anything. Oh wait. I still think it should be looked at as the net replacement for the Yanks as a whole. 2010 Johnson/Granderson/Gardner should be as good (maybe even better) than 2010 Damon/Matsui/Melky in offensive production. Considerably younger, too, with better defense. I do understand not liking the moves, even if I disagree. Hating the moves so vehemently? Makes people sound unhinged.
Didn't he walk twice and only homer once? That's not a DH!!!!!!!!!! I only accept a 1.5 or less walk/homer ratio in my DH
Wow. I just saw the ring ceremony. The Matsui moment was great. Also the Gene Monahan moment was great.
However, today's interesting choice of music was a decision made by Nick Johnson. Apparently, his 4 year old daughter was in attendance and she is a Miley Cyrus fan. Johnson chose the song to provide her a little extra excitement when her Dad came to the plate. Heartwarming, indeed. http://161st-and-river.com/visage/i...rblog/857-nick-johnsons-party-in-the-usa.html
