I am happy with everything they have done but I can't call us one of the best teams in Football when our QB can't even run yet and our backup is KC. Sanchez is a big concern of mine until I see that he's 100%. He's not spending anytime on the field working with his receivers or working on his footwork. I am not saying he won't be oK, but until he's on the field winiging it/running around, he's a question mark. A big question mark

I don't mind running the ball 100% as long as Greene doesn't get hurt again.

    Cool story, bro.

Mark Sanchez will be the focal point of our offense. This team is obviously being built to make him better.

It's April and the guy had surgery to make sure he won't have to worry about these knee issues a few years down the road. It was a smart move by Mark Sanchez to get his knee scoped.

The guy improved so much in the playoffs. I'm not worried about him, at all.

Its kinda crazy that something that was supposed to be a simple operation has kept him from running still. I know he's watching tape non stop but Id rather him on the field getting familiar with all his new toys.

Sanchez took major steps in postseason and overall he had a good rookie year. He's still going to make mistakes from time to time as he continues to learn and grow but I am supremely confident he is going to be much better than last year and that we can win a Super Bowl with him THIS YEAR.

As far as the backup, I expect we'll sign Brunell at some point(if Taylor does not accept our offer OR if one of our other FAs sign a deal OR when the final 8 rules expire in july) and he will back up sanchez w/ Clemens moving on. I don't know how much that helps but at least we'll have a vet QB.

I like our new move at WR, but can Holmes make Sanchez look better? Not including the 'yards after catch' which Santonio does well.

I'm happier with Holmes over Marshall for $, and I think Holmes obviously will be paid much less since he just got himself into all this legal shit. Even before that Holmes would of been paid much less then Marshall.

The main positive with Marshall was that he would make Sanchez look like a top 10 QB.

does anybody have any statistics on Mark's performance when we had a 3 WR set?

To be honest this surgery is probably the best thing that could have happened to Mark. Aside from actually fixing his knee, Mark is forced to be at the facility rehabbing, and as a result he has attended every offensive meeting, had private talks with his coaches, and has been glued to screen watching film like nobody's business.

If he doesnt have the surgery, I think it is less likely that he is doing all of this preparation every single day of the week like he is now.

So if anything I am pretty flat out excited he can't run yet. They said it when he had the surgery that he would be 100% ready by TC which is still a few months away, they never promised anything about OTA's.

The Holmes move is great, and it basically makes Mark Sanchez the weakest link in our starting offense.

If that statement holds true, then our offense will be outstanding.

You guys sound like the Jets Front Office talking. I am not being paranoid, just concerned. Our QB had surgery 2 months ago and is running in a pool. Sounds like we should be a little concerned. I mean, you can't even question one thing on this board anymore, has everyone drank the kool-aid?

I think with the WRs we have Kerry Collins could look decent as an NFL QB. So I'm not too worried about Sanchez.

How are you not at least concerned?

He was not fully up to speed when last season ended, which is understandable....but now all the pieces are in place and we should expect to get stronger after the draft. Going into the season, the main thing to look for will be how quickly Mark can get back to the form he was in at the end of last season, and then how quickly he can get better than that so the team will consistently fire on all cylinders.

He very well may do that....we all expect him to, but we at least have to acknowledge the fact that Sanchez and his ability continue taking positive steps is what this will all be riding on.

the backup QB position is more of a concern than our starting QB position.

Currently...if Sanchez goes down....we're f*cked. Clemens is terrible, and we've only seen Ainge light up 3rd stringers in the preseason.

    This needs to be addressed.

If QB is the big question mark then we're one question mark away from a Super Bowl. I'll take that version of Jeopardy over what we've been playing for the last four decades.

Seriously, if we have issues at the moment they're more likely to involve a problem somewhere in the trenches than our QB situation. I'm hoping the Jets land a defensive end or linebacker of note in in the draft and beef the offensive line a bit as well.

If Sanchez goes down we're pretty screwed no matter who we have at backup at this point. Ainge isn't going to pull a Tom Brady and there aren't any better answers out there on the free agent market.

I agree with this. We have way too much talent on this team to throw the season away if Sanchez gets hurt, which is why we need a competent and proven veteran.

I gotta say that the stats on a 3 WR set from last year don't mean much because the Jets didn't have 3 NFL caliber WR's on the field at any point last season.

Yeah especially when Cotch was out-

Now we can motion LT or LW out there, or Keller, or just keep BE, SH, and JC.

It's not drinking the kool-aid; it's knowing that our FO will pick up a veteran as soon as it's able to dispose of Clemens. As far as Mark is concerned, I know someone who spoke to him yesterday and said he's ecstatic about his progress, about the Holmes signing, and about the upcoming season. Doesn't sound like he's worried about being ready at all.
