Why do the AFC East rival fans always pick on our "aging defense"?...Regardless of age, it's stout as hell. Isn't that what really matters???...

Besides, it's not even that old. The DL is aging, but there's some youth on the depth chart as well. Our starting secondary may be one of the youngest in the league, and at LB we're infusing some youth as well....

Aside from Taylor / Thomas / Carter / Holliday / Traylor, our defense isn't all that old in my opinion. Every defense in the NFL has some "aging players", it's the nature of football / human evolution. There's simply no way around it, and as long as these aging players are productive, who cares how old they are???...

I think the Pats will be up in the 12-14 win range but I agree with your other picks.

    Really?
    Frerotte+Rosenfels < Culpepper+Harrington
    Darien Barnes < Fred Beasley
Alex Holmes+Lorenzo diamond < Justin Peele,Keith Heinrich, Teyo Johnson
    Mcdougal < Macintosh
Madison, Howard, Thomas < Allen, Goodman, Hill, Poole

That to me appears like an improvement...

That aging defense thing is full of horse shit....
Pre-draft 89% of miami's players were under the age of 30
AND 75% of the starters were under 30...

    How is that old?

Also the only unit that can be considered old is the Defensive line with all 4 starters over 30... The same guys who were second in the league in sacks last year...

Keep trying to find excuses...i know it helps you sleep at night...

im not saying you guys arent productive. my main point is I cant think of any younger players stepping up to fill the vital roles Taylor/Thomas have played. maybe thats because im not a Fin fan.

until they fall off in production my argument will be wrong. but im just saying players do have off years and you never know when it will happen. and the same thing could be said about any team. its just your "core" players have been around for quite some time and i guess its wishful thinking as a jet fan theyll appear to be out of their prime soon.

and thats the truth, pretty understandable though. i mean people cant play forever.

    - Ricky Williams 743 yards 4.4 ypc 6 TD (in 12 games)

    - Will Allen sucks at catching interceptions. He's not a playmaker. A downgrade at cb for Miami.

    - Harrington has done nothing in the NFL. How can anyone say he's an upgrade over Frerrote?

Culpepper, depends on if you beieve he will be 100% and you forget how bad he looked last season before the injury. He played like ****.

Madison, although a past Pro Bowler, was tailing off in terms of coverage skills. I don't really see much difference between the two at this stage in their respected careers. The truth is that Allen is a very solid CB, but lacks some ball handling skills when he's in place to make the INT. The Giants fans thought he had good potential, and not many of them complained about his coverage.....

There's the numbers, and as you can see, Culpepper stands out as a big time passing threat. His yardage totals are insane considering how bad that team was. He can probably throw for 250 in his sleep. Look at all of the sacks as well, if that's not a glaring sign of how bad his protection was in 2005, I don't know what is. The Phinz OL will be much more stable than that, and our running game is stronger as well. Not to mention our WR's / TE positions.....

Will Allen has been the most complained about player on the Giants for the last few years. I cannot even tell you how many times I have heard Giants fans cry over Allen getting burned. I think that the Madison - Allen swap has to go in favor of the Giants.

I will miss Sam Madison as a Jet fan. He was always good for a long TD, a stupid pass inter or personal foul and looked as slow as our CB's. I don't think Will Allen is a good player either but Madison lost several steps over the years.
