I understand your concerns, obviously. However, most of the criticism levied over the past few days (and I'm not singling you out here by any means) has been criticism of the supposed LT/TJ swap. I really don't see how we have FEWER question marks if we keep TJ rather than sign LT. He'd have been in a similar role, by several accounts he was injured to end the season, and there are very serious questions about how much he has left at this point. Add to that the fact that, while in NY, he's been the kind of back who NEEDS carries to heat up and be productive, and IMO, he's just as much of a question mark as a backup. As far as Leon, I'm starting to feel that it might be better if someone DOES pick him up so we can bring in a 2nd round back with fewer question marks surrounding him and fewer years on his legs. It's a bit surprising to me to feel this way since I'm a huge Leon fan, but I might rather have a potential workhorse with a year or two to develop as the 3rd back at this point. Either way, we were going into this season with huge question marks at the RB position. I don't think anyone is denying that. However, to suggest that those question marks were the result of swapping TJ and LT seems a bit misinformed. If your concern centers around questions that you feel no one else recognizes, I think you may be fighting windmills to some extent.
How keeping TJ makes our RB situation any better beggars belief tbh. Guy was on a downward spiral and as has been mentioned numerous times he isn't the type of back to be happy with8-10 carries or even be useful with that amount of carries. With LT we also have a vet on the downturn BUT he is at lest useful in passing situations , which TJ never was. Greene may be injury prone but without taking the hits as a starter we will never know, if our season was to rest on TJ we were fucked , same if it rests on LT. As for Leon...he will stay with the jets unless someone offers us the 2nd which I cannot see. We will draft a RB in rnd 4 , I see us taking Dixon.
I'm not so sure about that anymore. As much as I'd like to see a running back selected, I just don't think it's going to happen, unless Washington signs elsewhere. The Jets will have three capable backs on the roster, plus a back with decent potential on our practice squad. We the Tomlinson signing, I think 2011 will be the year the Jets go after another back in the draft. The Jets will have a great chance to pick up a third down type back next year: Noel Devine and Jaquizz Rodgers will be available.
Well you obviously didn't like all the LT talk, and you stated that numerous times in the LT thread. Not trying to say that you were crying about it, but you definitely aren't happy.
Gus just back away , you have made your opinion clear and all you are doing is painting yourself into a corner. You are one of the best posters on here ...go enjoy the veuve and let it ride!
So your just baiting me? No, I don't like the direction we've taken, but deal with it like the big boy I am. Don't confuse this with me not understanding what the FO/CS are doing, I just don't like it. Welcome to NY LT, ok?
I'd love to see Quizz in green and white. It would be worth waiting IMO if we had a good shot at him.
haha, thanks. Do they have Vueve in Sheffield ? Love to meet up Maynard.....sky get their sh1t together and we can plan a game, you must be about 1-1/2 hours away??
Defo mate , we even have moet and asti spumante!! I think it would be a good call , we can hook up either Newc / Sheff. Get the missus to NY for the monday nighter , the wives can go shopping we can go drinking!!
Maynard, you can't stand for a shot like that from a man who comes from the city that considers lager to be posh and coats are for poofters!
how the fuck do all these sports writers not understand about how much money we paid for LT vs how much Jones was going to make in one year.... blows my mind.
Top O'er the league man! Bring on the Moet and overcoats!! I owe the Missus one, just bought me a HD for my B'day, so shopping in NY could be on the cards..weekend jaunt. Even know a driver
"If the Jets thought they were improving by taking in LaDainian Tomlinson, they are wrong." Recent history shows that second-guessing Mike Tannenbaum is about as likely to make you look stupid as licking a frozen flagpole. But people just can't get enough of it.
I don't think anyone cares about the money because it's not coming out of their pockets. Plus, they back themselves up with the fact that it is an uncapped year.
