Listen from a health standpoint this is great I only wish the best for Rex But after Mangini lost weight we began to suck, I only hope the same thing does not happen to Rex
Some gigantor woman I know (who looks like Mimi from the Drew Carey show - so losing weight isn't her only issue) had this done last Summer, and she's lost like 150 pounds. This is a good thing for Rex, he seems serious about being healthy now. Hopefully it works for him, and he's unlike Charlie Weis.
Am i the only one whos kind of disappointed. He probably saw the hockey game pictures and decided he had to change.
yeah he is going to turn into a really pissed off guy since he cant eat everything he wants now lol. i can see him getting angry and have the thing removed lol
Its rediculous that people would get surgeries like this imo. It sounds creepy and unnatural and if Rex loves to eat he will hate it. Its hysterical that happing a huge band inside his body seemed easier then eating a salad.
Oh, thank God. That's great news. For him and for us. I'm being completely serious here, but one of my biggest fears was that he'd drop dead before our next Super Bowl. Given Jets' luck historically, every time you think you've seen it all, you haven't. I've been with this team a long, long time, and I have a superstitious mind. Can you blame me?! At least it isn't gastric bypass, but a part of me always has an eye-brow raised about such drastic measures. You know, JUST STOP FUKKING EATING!; but a woman I work with, she was gonna flat out die without this. Diabetes. Joint wreckage. Asthma. You name it. And the clock was ticking. Better a lap band than the alternative, but it takes some of the self-empowerment out of it - at least on some level in my mind. I guess the moral of the story is to not let it get to this in the first place, but better alive than dead, that's for damn sure. Good luck, Rex.
Same with a friend of mine. She blew up (small girl, so she was rather round) and she's a tooth pick after the surgery.
Mangini lost weight and the next year he sucked...Andy Reid has been a fat tub of shit for years and he's been pretty successful...Hopefully Rex breaks the trend...
Charlie Weis almost died from a similar procedure. They read him his last rites. Exercise and diet always work if you stick to the program. I don't like that Rex is taking the lazy way out. Also amazing that football coaches, surrounded by state of the art facilities fulll of exercise equipment and the best trainers, cannot stay in shape.
Eating can become a bad habit and like all habits they are very hard to break. What the band forces you do to is eat smaller portions and learn to break the habit of eating larger portions. Some people are able to do it on their own, I'm sure Rex has tried and failed so he's doing this. People don't just get a surgery without trying on their own first.
I hope he doesn't end up looking like the white version of Al Roker. I know its not right, but I kinda like that he's a big loud fat-ass. Its not healthy, but I hope he's still a loud asshole when he's thinner.
That Rex is taking control of his life is in itself a positive thing as he realizes that to continue down the path of ever more pounds will shorten his life considerably. Good decision and Good Luck to you Rex!!
