Could be a good depth signing. Injury history or not, if it's a cheap contract there isn't much risk.
ok first everybody stop it with Atogwe it's not going to happen he wants a long-term and lucrative deal. We can't afford that we have to many players to re-sign to long term deals. I like this he wil sign a short term deal and rex ryan will be able to get the most out of him. Make him rotate with Eric Smith and James I to play alongside Leonhard. and i think we can focus on the DE-OLB position during the draft. Plus we can get one in the draft and try to develop him. In Tanny we trust!!!!!
We dont need anymore depth thanks, We need a star. Any good on special teams now that Wright is gone??
He may be healthy now but I would worry about how long that lasts. One good shot to the head from either an opponent or the turf and Pool would be on the IR, standing outside his house, confused because he cannot find his morning paper and yelling at his neighbor for stealing it he cannot remember that he picked it up 2 seconds ago.
I'd rather spend the 1st on Bethea (but that's just me) than sign this "concussion-in-waiting". But why isn't there any reports involving Atogwe?! Not even a rumor.
I think Brodney Poole is a wise move. He's similar to Rhodes wherein he's more of a FS than an "in the box" guy.Alittle more physical but not quite as big and athletic. He would be an instant starter at FS and will likely come cheaply due to the concussion issues. If he even starts 12 games and plays decently he's worth the contractual risk. I doubt he'd command much more than 2 mill a year due to the health concerns.
Whatever, I'd still like to pair him with someone in the draft we can develop because chances are Pool won't make it through the entire season. If we do sign him I guess we'll have more options with our first pick and most importantly we (hopefully) won't be spending picks to trade up.
eric smith and james ighedibo -or however you spell it- are not the future of the jets secondary, sorry.. great guys and possibly in the near future, but whether draft of FA, we need a solid starter and then the Jets D will be golden!!!
What is it with these made up names? Who puts a B in front of Rodney? I don't get the thinking behind that shit.
I understand he's had a ton of concussions, but if the guy wants to play, and he can play, then why not? It would suck if he got hurt obviously, but we'd be a good place he can play. I'd prefer someone who played ST's as well, but he's better than many other options besides Atogwe.
According to Adam Schefter, we just signed Pool. 1 year $1.3M From Twitter: @Adam_Schefter Not just LT news in NY: Jets reached agreement on a one-year, $1.3 million deal with former Browns S Brodney Pool.
I hope for his sake that he remains healthy and concussion free. If so, the Jets got themselves a pretty good backup at the least.
