With all the talk of trading Rhodes, we would most definitely need to upgrade the FS spot. Obviously the CB class is very deep but I like the S too.

Allen is my favorite S, behind Berry and Thomas.

He seemed to be in every play in any big east game, or against Syracuse. He covers a lot of the field at once, something Rhodes was one of the best at. But Allen is a pretty good tackler, which would be a nice change to our FS spot. He is good in run support. Tough, physical, didn't blitz a lot, but Rex could work with him. He is a good athlete, I'm anxious for his 40 at his proday.

If we do happen to trade Rhodes for, we'll say a 3rd, then taking Allen with that pick would be a no brainer. I would not be upset at all if we took him with our 2nd either, knowing we have that 3rd for other needs.

I was disappointed he didn't run at the combine.

Nate Allen is a very physical player.

Right now, I'd say 50/50 chance he's available with our 2nd rd pick.

If we lose Rhodes and don't pick up any players prior to the draft.....our Rd 1 & 2 picks both need to be secondary.

I go to South Florida, so I went to plenty of games, also on a side note I lived in the same hometown before college so I saw him play in high-school. He can be a very physical safety, but at times he has been beat deep and shied away from some hits. I think there is a 25% chance he is there at our #2. What I have said on a couple of other threads is I would like to trade our #1 to Cleveland for their #2 and one of their #3s (our original or their's). They need a QB, they might like McCoy give him the same contract as Quinn. I think if they want him they will need to leapfrog the Rams. With the 2 #2s I would take Alex Carrington and Nate Allen.

Both? I'd say at least one of those has to address the RB position, and the addition of Cromartie gives us the freedom to do it.

I do like what I've seen from Allen and wouldn't mind seeing us pick him up in the 2nd.

    Did you read my post?

Did you notice it was posted before the Cro trade?

I said if we trade Rhodes and don't pick up another player in the secondary...both picks should be DBs.

The Crom trade made my point moot.

    My bad.

Even so, I still would have disagreed. But as you said, it's moot.

I think he'll go in the early 2nd, if his value holds. He'd be an ideal get if the Jets traded down into the 2nd though, both from a value perspective and because it would mean an extra 3rd/4th to address another need.

I like Allen a lot, but I'd rather have Morgan Burnett. I could see us trading a 2nd and a 5th to move up 5-10 picks to get him.
