Once 3D TV is affordable, no one is gonna go the games because of NFL greed. And its not the money, its only $5, its milking us for every last penny.

Demand, meet supply: the Dolphins will charge more money for fans who want to sit in the shade. Good, now they can watch Chad Henne struggle in relative comfort.

Miami sounds like a lovely place right about now to those of us in the Northeast, but summers are absolutely miserable. Rain, every single day. Oppressive humidity, even when it's not raining. And, holy crap, can it get hot. September's 90-degree average is no weather for football.

The new pricing is the result of a study conducted by Harvard and MIT researchers, who found that it will feel up to 15 degrees cooler in the shade. So, for a mere $5 extra, you can insure your seats are on the south side of the stadium. The Dolphins bench is on that side for a reason. Just think: you can enjoy the very same shade that NFL players do!

This isn't new: the Jaguars do the same thing (the Bettman-hater in me wants to savage the NFL for expanding to the Sun Belt). But where does it stop?

Does it cost extra for the nosebleeds under the overhang, that are out of the rain? Perhaps we can fiddle with the price tiers for night games, so the more expensive ones don't have that pesky moon glow in their peripheral vision. And how can we change more for seats directly behind that chick in the cutoffs and XS pink jersey who keeps standing up?

I really don't give a shit about the dolphins. And I really don't care what they charge their fans.

On a cold day in New York i'd flirt with the idea of sitting on the sunny side of the Giants stadium.

    Just saying

$5 doesnt seem like a lot, and for a single game it isn't. but for season ticket holders who have 4-5 tickets,

thats an extra $20-$25 a game * 8 games a year and you are looking at another $160-$200. Thats a good chunk of change for people to swallow...

    its only 160 bucks....

you are gonna hear alot of that 314 but i completely understand what you are saying and couldnt agree with you more. its the little things. like it being treated solely as a business that will ruin it. and the day is coming maybe sooner than we all realize when people will have had enough.

the nfl thinks it is above the law, it can do whatever it wants and people will just still continue to flock to the games. heres a news flash, kids today dont care nearly as much about football as we did 20 years ago. so the market will shrink, how much depends, it depends on things like if a kid ever gets a chance to go to a game. and every 5 dollars may mean more kids that DONT get to go.

maybe its the boys club that buys 20 tickets and sends a bus down there, maybe that extra hundred just makes it not worth it.

i honestly think it has peaked and will see a downturn in the next 5 years, with the way they are treating the customers even during difficult times there is no wonder they have to tarp off the upper section of a number of stadiums.

:drunk: Paying more for the shady side is not uncommon in South American countries. Considering who most in Miami are...

Have you ever been to Miami? I'd MUCH rather sit in the shade for most of the early part of that season. I think it's a smart move on their part.

When I was in Spain they charged more to sit in the shade at the bullfights. Trust me sangria is no fun while you are dying of heat exhuastion.

My God, the last game I went to in Miami was a few years back and I made the mistake of sitting on the away team side (sunny side) and it was brutal. I would gladly pay extra to sit on the home team side if it gets you out of the sun.

Sadly, I doubt I'll ever go back to Miami for a game because it seems I get into a fight nearly every time I go. Ever since they started serving hard liquor at the games the "Dolfans" have become about 100 times more beligerent.

this is total bullshit NFL corporate greed! what's next, they are going to charge more for seats closer to the field with better views? how dare seats have differing value based on their locations and how it affects ones enjoyment of the game! damn capitalists, they need to keep their schemes away from our unadulterated game!
