I'm actually more concerned about this trade due to the lack of draft picks we already have. I'm concerned that Tanny is going to pull the trigger on a RFA, that will in turn throw away a one of our top two picks in this years draft. I'm already very disapointed on the lack of picks we have in this amazing draft class, now I think there will be a good chance that it only gets worse. I just feel that this was a very unneccessary trade, atleast at this point in time of the teams progression. Why create a void that you really didn't need to create in the first place?
Henderson coached the D in 2004-05, so he and Rhodes only overlapped one year. Kerry's best year (which I'd say was 2006) came under Mangini. Why would he tell an intern to throw away one of our top draft picks?
Hard to judge until we see how the rest of the Jets overall plan goes down. They always seem to have their moves well planned out with the exception of the Favre trade, you can't look at the snapshot in March and say for sure because it's still a fluid situation. I'd think if Cromartie was worth a 2/3, Rhodes should have gotten us higher than a 4 and 7, but maybe because we got two picks for a guy the management didn't want? We'll have to see, we've done well with 4th rounders with this regime.
Rhodes and Cromartie essentially went for the same compensation, since the 3rd rounder for Cromartie is a 2011 pick.
Haha I cant wait to see all the videos of Kerry and Matt as best friend instead of Kerry and Braylon.
That's one way to look at it, also we got two picks. Both are for this year? I'm not too much of a draftnik but I heard this year's draft is supposed to be good, plus there might not even be a season in 2011.
No, the 7th rounder is for 2011. There's also the matter of Cromartie's pick possibly elevating to a 2nd, but I recall reading team performance played a role in that. If we end up with a SB title and lose the last pick of the 2nd round next year, I won't be heartbroken. Either way, it is indeed a great draft this year, so I'd much rather have the picks now.
http://www.revisisland.com/jets-twit/a-deep-dive-analysis-on-the-kerry-rhodes-trade/ hahah i wonder if this is true. sounds fucking hilarious. i could see Calvin Pace calling Kerry Rhodes 'Carrie' Note this is just some stupid whore writing this shit, but maybe Carrie Rhodes was banging her.
From Rotoworld: As of right now, I am perfectly fine with this idea. Smith can be a competent starter, he's smart, knows the defense, and is always eager to make a hit. He is not great in coverage but I wouldn't go so far as to say he is terrible. At worst, he is a good option as a rotational guy.
Well, maybe these picks aren't a lot, but maybe we package them together and get one pick a little bit higher. Sounds like we are better off with him outta here on several levels. Everyone on here bitched about him all year anyway. Say goodbye to the "Kerry Rhodes is a little bitch" threads. Well, for the Jets anyway. I'm good with it.
Hey at least Kerry is that much closer to Hollywood now. We all saw him more than few steps behind in coverage on big plays. I don't think we will be missing him at all.
