Lions fans should welcome cro with open arms. The guy cant tackle but he can cover. And they have one of the worst pass defenses in the nfl. If the price is low enough (which i think they said a 5th round pick) they should be celebrating.
I don't like Cromartie as a player or person..and I think he is very overrated. But I would gladly take him in exchange for Jones who we would ship anyway..Rex would know where to use him. I just look at it this way...he is better then Drew Coleman, so why not?
The Jets have already announced that they are cutting Jones. He has zero trade value as of right now.
I wouldn't say zero value; I'd say very little. A team could decide that they want exclusive negotiation rights and propose a low trade contingent upon reaching a contract agreement. If he goes to FA, he climbs near the top of the backs and a team has to compete for him.
The entire negotiation: Other Team's GM: We will give you a conditional 7th that can turn into a 6th. Tannenbaum: But Jones is worth more than a 6th or a 7th. OTGM: But you were going to cut him. Tannenbaum: But he's worth more than that and now you want to trade. OTGM: But you were going to cut him. Tannenbaum: But he's worth more. OTGM: But you were going to cut him. Tannenbaum: Have fun bidding in free agency.
Oh I know, there is no way Jones will be traded, I was just saying I would do that....but that is kind of a no brainer.
Also I dont see how we would trade an old aging running back who is running on almost empty, to a team that just cut a running back who did not have enough in the tank
Sure they are both old and are running out of gas, but look at 2009. LT had 700 yards while Jones had 1400 yards....which one would you take? Yes our line is better but 100% more yards is just too significant, and Jones has been much more durable then Tomlinson throughout his career.
This bleacher report article is the most ridiculous speculation news I have ever read, where do people come up with this shit http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...mpaign=buzztap&utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter
^^Just looks like someone was fucking around on BR to try to make a point (that BR is shitty and should be ignored).
True, but there is no better solution, also I'm sure the chargers probably realize they are more of a passing team anyway so the RB position is not nearly as important as it was. So it does not make sense either way, even if Jones would cost less they might as well just spend the money they would spend on Jones and give it to a draft pick
I really don't know what to make of it. The talk is sending the 5th they picked up from Denver in the '09 draft for Cro. At that price I like it, just not on a team like the Lions; zero pass rush, Cro being the #1 CB, etc. The sad thing is that Cro is an upgrade, at least in talent, in Detroit's secondary, even as marginal as he's been the last two years.
As per CBSSPORTS.COM Clark Judge Cromartie on Jets' radar? The San Diego Chargers definitely are trying to move cornerback Antonio Cromartie, but you can forget about the Detroit Lions. He's not going there. That might not be the case, however, with the New York Jets. A source at the annual NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis told me the Jets are interested, and a source close to the team didn't rule it out. The Jets are looking for a cornerback to pair with All-Pro Darrelle Revis, and Cromartie is available ... for the right price, of course. But the Chargers aren't just testing the waters here; they want to trade the guy, frustrated and fed up with him after only three years of service. "I'd pay attention to the Jets," said one league source. It makes sense because they're a club that likes to make a splash. A year ago they traded for Cleveland's first pick and turned it into Mark Sanchez. The year before they traded for Brett Favre. Making bold moves is nothing new for them, and coach Rex Ryan last week said he was open to "anything that can help us get better." There was loose talk about the Raiders' Nnamdi Asomugha after he told reporters at the Pro Bowl that he would like to be teamed with Revis, but the Raiders aren't going to let him go. That's not the case with Cromartie and the Chargers, and a move to New York would make sense. Think of this: Even though the Jets had the league's best pass defense and best defense overall, the only thing that kept them from the Super Bowl was Peyton Manning. Though the club was able to minimize the damage inflicted by the Colts' top two receivers, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark, it couldn't control Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie -- and it couldn't because it didn't have the defensive backs to handle them. "(Manning) can make a lot of great defenses look average," said Ryan. "and he did that day for sure. I am open to any possibilities that can make us a world champion." Adding Cromartie could help the Jets take that step.
Maybe a conditional 3rd wud do it for San Diego i think it wud be fair on both sides, Tanny get it done
Cant really see what we could offer the Chargers for Cro with TJ gone. Maybe Leon for Cro + a 4th round pick or something is about the only thing I could see happening. Either that or it would hafta be something strange and completely unexpected.
