He wasn't the best kicker in the league, we definitely could have gotten more Until he is in the AFCC Not really a need at the position, or even a good idea. What happens when a blocker on KR breaks his arm, then we're forced to sign Nick Folk. I would have loved to seen what would have happened to him if he said "no". Unless he manages force a fumble on a Leon KR, the only regret is going to come from media generated BS fluff pieces.
^ you'll have an easier time acquiring nude photos of cassie...then trying to preach logic to tanknyc. just sayin'...
Let's not turn on the guy. I'm still very hopeful that we reach an agreement with him and he retains the kicking job over Folk. Far too often players end up leaving the team over a business decision and we act like they never gave us anything of value.
What else can I do at 11:30 on a Tuesday night aside from bashing the idiots while I watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report? Unrelated note: Lindsay Vonn is extremely hot and currently being interviewed. She looks like she's about to explode holding in her laughter.
Just trying to keep the Feely praise in perspective. While I hate losing good players to business decisions, I really hate it when business decisions force some guys to turn decent to good players into future HOFs.
^ You're right. That took Feely down considerably in my book. He had plenty of distance on both kicks, but just shanked the frig out of them. I still need to fix the wall in my family room which I punched after each of Feely's gaffes, Marquess of Queensberry rules, of course.
Folk is awesome Folk is a great kicker. What you Jet fans don't know is that he had major hip surgery last may and did not get the proper time to rehab before the started the previous season with the Cowboys. He is a stellar kicker (had a fabulous record the last 2 years.) He is healthy and strong. Word is out that he had a near perfect tryout with the Jets. I can assure you, you will not be disappointed. The Cowboys did everything to keep him....he was just out of sync with the hip and needed time to strenghten the hip. They didn't have a choice with playoffs coming up. They tried to figure out a way to put him on IR, but couldn't. He's good to go and won't let you down. consider yourselves lucky!
It's just the Jets being smart. I love Feeley too, but it is the right move. Now they have insurance in case his agent is asking for too much and things get dicey. Feeley wants to be here, they still want him.
Hmm, I was unaware of that and it makes me feel more comfortable w/us picking him up. Hopefully he can return to form with plenty of time to heal. Where did you hear that he had a near perfect tryout? While we have you here, how were his kickoffs?
The whole thing seems silly...... unless Feely is looking for alot of cash that and MBGreen is now in the running for top avatar hmy:
Folk was one of the best kickers in the league until last year. I have no idea what happened to this guy.
Jay Feely 02/24/2010 09:48 AM ET I appreciate all the support from the Jets fans. I have truly enjoyed being a Jet and my sincere wish is to be one til the end of my career I sooo hope we keep Feely...
The more I read about Folk, the more I think he's one of those snake bit kickers who choked in a few key spots and will never be right again.
I dont understand why they would not resign Feely. He was the most consistent kicker we had since.....well....ever. The last 2 kickers we had before him (doug brien, mike nugent) both suck and are no longer in the league.
All I'm going to say about this is I do not like it at all. I want Feely back. He's proven himself to be a very clutch kicker.
Brien 2003: 84.4% Brien 2004: 82.8% Nugent 2005: 78.6% Nugent 2006: 88.9% Nugent 2007: 80.6% Feely 2008: 85.7% Feely 2009: 83.3%
Didn't Feely just miss two kicks in the AFC Championship game? I liked Feely, too, he's a solid kicker. Folk will probably be a solid kicker as well, and he'll probably be younger and cheaper. If he's healthy, there's no reason he shouldn't bounce back. And if he struggles, we'll find someone else to fill in and do the job.
