Imagine how much bigger it would be if we didn't give up as much as we all think we will? Rhodes/T. Jones/2nd rounder for Aso/3rd rounder Anyone?
Let's assume for a minute that Al Davis is actually going to trade Asomugha and hasn't just put his name out there to see if somebody will come to him with a Herschel Walker type trade proposal. What is he looking for in a fair trade of value for Asomugha? Well, Champ Bailey and a 2nd round pick went to Denver for Clinton Portis who was coming off the best first two seasons any NFL running back ever had, averaging 1,550 yards, 5.5 yards per carry and 14 TD's. He did the 3,099 yards and 29 TD's in 25 starts. Closer to home on the issue, Phillip Buchanon was traded by Oakland - 3 years after being their 1st round pick - to Houston for a high 2nd and 3rd round pick. He was not a pro bowler but he was definitely in the next tier down. Those are the two trades I think we need to look at assuming the Raiders really want to trade Asomugha in a fair value deal. Bailey plus a 2nd bought the Redskins the best young runningback in football and arguably one of the 5 most valuable offensive properties at the time. Buchanon went for close to full value based on his performance to that point. So Asomugha is very likely to be traded for either equal value in draft picks, which would be at least 2 first rounders and probably 3 or 4 later picks, or for a player who clearly is in the top ten players in the game either on the offensive or defensive side of the ball. Looking at what's out there here are some suggestions of things that might happen: 1. Asomugha to the Patriots for their 2010 first rounder, the Raiders 2011 first rounder and some combination of 2nd through 4th round picks between the two years. 2. Asomugha to the Titans for Chris Johnson, maybe with a draft pick to sweeten the deal for the Titans. 3. Asomugha to the Giants for their 2010 first rounder, their 2011 first rounder and some combination of 2nd through 4th round picks between the two years. The Giants need a cornerback at this point to keep up with the Revis's in the NY media market and the NFL's #1 WR's on the field. Obviously none of these are remotely likely to happen, but it gives us a view into the way a fair market for his services is likely to be formed. The Giants will be watching the Asomugha to NY angle and will likely interfere with the Jets ability to match him with Revis - it's what a team based on Eli Manning would see as a nightmare.
these is all smoke n mirrors (asomugha critically to success of raider d) al davis wont trade the best cb in nfl..al davis value cb position really well. (raider team play man to man D like 90% percent of time) besides raider team are on verge of rising..raiders have to have a solid draft tho
revis is definately a great CB but Asomugha has had all-pro seasons for a whi;e now (consistency key here) If Revis can follow this up for a long time then he will pass asomugha
The grammar and spelling are a mess, and the football sense seems way out the window..... Joe is that you?
Yeah, when Aso has a season like Revis did, come on back and we'll talk. I'm 90% sure this is Raider Joe.
I don't now a joe..my name is francis and this is my first time on these site. I'm a raider fan first foremost (my dad was a Jets fan) so thad why im both a raider fan and jet fan
Forget about including Lito Sheppard in any trades; They know we're gonna cut him. Besides if Aso's contract is part of why they want to move Aso, do you think they'd want to commit to a $10 million option bonus and a hefty contract for Sheppard? I would give up: our 1st rounder, Da Ghost, Leon Washington -for- Aso and Michael Bush. I'm putting more value on LW, even with the injury, but tell me what you guys think of the two RB's. They get Leon and McFadden for a quick strike offense, we get Greene and Bush for smash mouth football. I know I'm dreaming, but it's the off-season! And this is all assuming Aso will restructure his contract to come to us....
But Al Davis can throw a bunch of cash at Duante Robinson and Leigh Boldin, while getting some value for Aso before he void's his contract and walks after 2011 anyway.
He's 29 coming off a serious leg injury. The injury probably affects his quickness, which is his whole game. I like Leon, but I think he gets a bit over hyped. If we get a Michael Bush back, I think we'd take it and skip happily to the bank.
Ok where do I start... Your spelling is terrible. Is it that hard to reread before posting, let alone when it only 2 lines of text? Revis is definitely the best CB in the NFL. You can say I am biased because I am a Jets fan, but that's a transparent argument at this point. How long have the Raiders been on the verge of breaking out... 8 years? When was the last time the Raiders had a solid draft under Davis? Heyward-Bey had 8 more catches last year than Eric Smith. Not to attack you or anything, I've just always hated the Raiders.
Davis has become completely out of it if he pays his kickers top dollars, but does not consider it worth it to keep a franchise player, like Asomugha. I would imagine that they would want our first rounder, but if there is any way we can get out of trading draft picks, that would be an absolute steal.
