You say To-MAY-to, I say To-mah-TO. There's merit to your claim, especially Snell's work with Boozer in an earlier era. McNeil was great for a couple of seasons, and pretty good in his injury-limited capacity otherwise. But I would note that Martin is also something Snell and esp. McNeil weren't so much of, which is a great receiving back.
Since you're to-mah-to let me give you the To-May-to on receiving. Snell 193 receptions for 1375 yards 7.1YPC 7 TD's McNeal 295 receptions for 2961 yards 10YPC 12 TD's Martin 484 receptions for 3329 yards 6.9YPC 10 TD's Again Snell played in a 2 back offense with Boozer who had 12 TD catches during the same period that Snell had 7 TD. Boozer also had a 10.7 ypc average. Martin has much more attempts because he played in a single back O but he was never better than Snell and McNeal when healthy was simple a better back in all phases of the game than Martin and much more dangerous with the ball either running or receiving.
I wonder if Blaylock or Houston can be an every down back by next year. Witht he contract Blaylock has, he'd better.
Get used to the team not operating with concern towards fan approval. It's the Pioli/Belichick/Mangini way. Be thankful it is that way. Because us fans don't know how to run a football organization.
Only Jets' fans would bank on 5'11" 210 lbs 33 years old RBs with tons of carries under their belt and coming from knee injuries. Boy we are a sad bunch.
Martin is the man, but Freeman was my favorite Jet as a kid. If injuries wouldn't have derailed him, he would have had a HOF career.
