I've been in Binghamton since 2006 (for school), I'll be here for the summer and I might be going up to Syracuse in the fall.

I live on the west side now.

back when pataki was governor, state taxpayers across the entire state kicked in $124 million to keep the orchard park chokers in buffalo. and, that includes $3 million per year in operating revenue.

you object to $200,000 for suny cortland and the jets? :eek:hmy:

Isn't Woody's first name "Robert"? The article called him Richard.

This would be good since Cortland is a lot closer to my house than Florham Park is.

    The idea sucks because:

    1) New York City area fans have always loved taking their kids to local TC. It's an inexpensive, fun-filled day for the family without having to drive all day to get there. The Jets pulled out of Hofstra and basically screwed LIers out of the one last Jets experience they were able to attend, and now this. Not surprising however, given that Woody Johnson shits on his most loyal of fans with regularity anyway. Way to go again Woody, you fucking scumbag.

    2) What are our players, juvenile high schoolers with no self discipline? They need to be quarantined in Jerkwater, USA, where there's nothing happening, because they can't be trusted to be responsible and mature and behave professionally on their own? They're so adolescent that they won't make curfew and givbe a good workout the following day because of where they're physically located? They won't practice well if they're "distracted?" That doesn't say much for the maturity or caliber of player we think we've got, not to mention not trusting them further than you can throw them. A ridiculous message we're sending - an assinine reason and one that makes the coach look like he has no control rather than the "good call" everyone is buying into.

    3) Seeking public money to practice away from the brand-spanking-new, multi-million dollar, publicly-funded, state-of-the-art practice facility at Florham Park is an unconscionable waste of tax dollars. Just plain terrible PR, it nothing else. And getting in bed with any politician to accomplish this is playing right into his re-election minded motives, pure and simple. It's not because Chuckie Schummer loves the NY Jets, he'd turn around and do the same thing for the Bills or the Giants if it gets him a few extra upstate votes. As bad an idea it is to get involved this way with politically motivated people, it's a worse idea to become an accomplice to accepting public funding for it. At a time when the economy is on it's ass, the New York Jets and Chuckie Boy should be sued by the taxpayers of NY State for gross, irresponsible misappropriation of hard-earned tax dollars. Use the money to build shelters for the homeless, not new locker rooms for a team that already has new locker rooms.

This was more of a Rex Ryan thing that it was Woody. We won't blame Rex for it because he is fucking awesome.

The Cowboys practice on the West Coast. Imagine how all those crazed Texans must feel.

the third part is all woody. I agree its petty. 200k? Child Please. The dude can spend 200k.

In response to point 1, what about all of the actual residents of NYS that like the Jets and want to bring their families out to TC? as you mentioned its a great day out and about, so why not let US NY'ers actually get a chance to go see hmm?

not to be argumentative but you guys have had the Jets in Hofstra forever, bringing them a little more upstate is good for the rest of us. Also getting away from the pressures of NY isn't a bad thing for a month while everyone just looks to focus on football!

Also to all those people who seem to think Cortland has nothing to do, I say bring the Jets to my hometown. we are a town with one stoplight! and the best part, is not only is the stoplight useless, its annoying as hell because we have to stop when absolutely NOBODY ever uses the cross road.... So yeah if you want to keep our boys out of trouble, send them to good Ol' Phelps NY
