Since jack shit is going on, just felt like expressing my opinion on Edwards. I expect Edwards to vault back onto the scene as a top WR again next year. I'm talking 1,200 yards and 8 TDs...thoughts?
With a full TC and preseason in the future...I think Sanchez/Edwards will develop some chemistry and put up some respectable numbers. It's too bad Sanchez is going to rehabbing most of the offseason and won't see the field for OTAs. Good call, Dware.....I'm on board with this.
1200 yards sounds awesome, but if we keep to the ground and pound philosphy I don't think he gets the ball enough to reach that plateau. But- he's shown he can YAC like a mothafucka.... as long as he tucks the damn ball away and doesn't fumble it. So maybe its possible. I do see 8TDs happening. He has to become that kind of threat for this offense to be somewhere in the realm of nastiness that the defense already owns.
I'm not. I truly expect Edwards to be a high end WR for us...there's really nothing that says he can't be unless you REALLY emphasize drops in your analysis...to me drops are apart of the game. I really like that Edwards came in here with a team mentality in mind...that he helped make our running and passing game better shows the talent level he adds to the offense.
He should hang his gloves on his facemask like Randy Moss used to and put a lot of stick-em on the gloves. Then he can just run for a TD with the ball stuck to his face.
Co-Sign, I think that with Edward's new mind set since joining the Jets, he is goin to be extra motivated to put up the numbers that hes expected to, especially if all his off the field problems are in the past.
I'm sure a Jet fan or 2 has created get Donte thread, so we'll have Braylon, J-Co, Clowney, Taint, Donte, and Plax on a work release program. Sounds like we'll have a pretty deep WR corp- Lookout SD, we are getting taller. Sarcastic of Course- Seriously though, I agree if Braylon does stay he'll have a big year. More time to develop chemistry, and the Jets putting more faith in Sanchez.
Rex has already stated he wants to be more balanced on offense. So long as Sanchez can handle that, I think it makes sense. Braylon hasn't had much consistency at the QB position in his career. Hopefully another season with the same QB will be beneficial. He obviously has a ton of talent.
That is one aspect that is overlooked about Braylons career. The one season he had good QB play, he was an elite WR. At the same time, his numbers could look really good in the 15 games he had with the Jets, but he likes dropping/fumbling the ball at very crucial moments. I hope that changes.
I think who we have in the slot could dictate how well Edwards does and how healthy Leon is. As you could see last season almost all of the pressure was on Edwards everytime the ball went to the air, so the guy was always getting swarmed. But if we could manage a nice balance with rushing, and get another wr to make other teams safetys think twice, I DEFINITELY could see Edwards having a strong year. Probowl is incredibly unlikely, but definitely strong.
Braylon will have a big season, this is prob the biggest season of his career, he needs to replicate what he did in Cleveland when he was absolutely bananas, it could happen If anyone benefits from Sanchez's development it's Cotchery IMO, I still think he's the primary go to guy in this offense when striking through the air, plus I really like the Chemistry developing between these two players Cotch = More Catches Braylon = More Yards / TDs
I understand your post, but this line just got me laughing. To translate it literally, it says that a slot receiver can dictate how good of a season Edwards has and how healthy Leon is. Meaning that Leon's health relies on the slot receiver:breakdance:.
