You just want to see us win atleast one more SB in your lifetime and that is not insane at all. Check your sources. Google search confirms that he was bought out in May 1968 (not only by Hess but also the other 3 or 4 chumps that owned the team). The story about him and SB III was that he made a boatload of cash betting on the Jets, which he would not have been able to do as owner. Having said that, of course Sonny was the best owner (and GM) the Jets have ever had. And he deserves all the credit for SBIII, even though he was gone by then. His last act before selling out was getting Joe Willie a new contract (original deal would have run out after '68).
Nope then for once the net is incorrect. Hess bought his 25% share & when he did that he became majority owner of the team. Then later on he bought I think Townsend 25% share from his daughter after he past away & finally bought the last 25% so that he was then the sole owner of the team

Some questions Earlier it seems like you posted the Jets were complete failures, and now your saying they had a good season, I'm confused which is it? Another question, lets say the Jets win two Superbowls in the next decade, would you say they were 80% failures for the decade? Reading your posts on this thread it appears that you don't get much enjoyment out of following the Jets, so why not just save yourself (and us here defending the Jets) the aggravation and find something that is more enjoyable to you. I'm not trying to be a jerk, just really wondering why come to the party if your not having a good time, if that makes sense.
Eh, some people feel that if your team doesn't win it all then season was a failure, and it's not wrong to think that way, because all teams start the season with that goal, I sorta feel the same way too, but after a good season like this one I don't really feel sad about how it ended because of the promising future this team has, but in the end they didn't win it all, and thats the one thing we all want.
Gotta enjoy the ride Champ, its coming buddy. The qb and coach just started unlike Michaels and Todd and Vinnie and Tuna. We all want the VLT held high in Woody's arms but winning is still better then losing. Was this year just as enjoyable as the Kotite years, they both ended the same way, with a loss?
