I've been saying it; Woodhead is the man. I would like to see him, in the 4th qtr when the opp D line is tired, running the zone blocking scheme, sweeps, screens, and quick tosses. If I am correct, Leon earned something similar his rookie and sophmore seasons in the NFL.
Yeah? who else are you going to bring in for 400k who isnt a complete tool? Please get back to me on that one
yeah its Jenks number.. and I agree with his style, but another preseason in this offense, he can [hopefully] transition to more of a slot WR
I hope that too... I'm always very happy when a hard working kid gets to become someone in whatever sport he plays. Since we are talking about WRs I hope Wright develops a bit more this season. He has been used as a blocking/phyiscal WR mainly but he should learn how to run short-intermediate routes. Clowney needs to run better routes and become more physical also... plus I'm pretty sure this year he'll be battling for his job vs Allison.
Ditto. In addition to that, we MAY be able to get Vick to back up Sanchez for the same price as Woodhead. :chargers:
This is something a lot of people seem to miss. Great post, Mambo. He gets a head of steam and eventually builds up enough to outrun some people. He has an incredibly strong lower body for someone who is 5'7", 195lbs and he can shake tacklers and gain a few yards after contact a lot better than you expect. The problem is that none of these attributes are really the skill set a lot of people seem to be under the impression/hoping that he can bring to the team. He plays more like Greene than Leon which is not a good sign for his continued health at HB if he gets consistent reps there. Nor do they make for a good slot receiver. When he got in that position in games this season, he was almost never open and he certainly wasn't shifting his way out of any tackles. He just hasn't shown the skill set in games this season to look like the player that the Jets need him to be to make this roster and contribute at a consistent level. I'm not present in the practices, I don't see the scouting reports, and he may very well improve with some more time learning how to play that position. He certainly has the work ethic it would take to make this roster next season, that much has to be apparent to any of his detractors. However, given what I have seen so far from him, I do not expect him to be on the final roster. There is plenty of time for him to change that and shut up everyone who says otherwise(myself included), but assuming he will is just hope over logic right now.
As much as I like Vick (kinda), we have no use for him.. Sanchez is our starter who has a better arm and accuracy than Vick. We would use vick for wild cat formations but we already have B. Smith who is more versatile.
Vick will start either with the Rams (perfect place IMO) or the Bills. If the Rams get Vick for a 4th round pick + Suh in the first + the BPA in the 2nd they'll really start to build something. Brown at C + J. Smith at LT + S. Jackson at RB + M. Vick at QB... hardcore running team!
Another good post. But, the staff sees something that we don't see. And the interviews of teammates being impressed with him, doing what he does, there's something there that hasn't been exposed to the rest of us. You hear all this negative crap on here about him, but where has he gone wrong? The game with Miami he got outblocked on the runblock, if there is a guy on this team that never, never, was outblocked on a play please let me know. Other than that, he's contributed well to this team, more so than some of the instant millionaires. This may sound crazy, but from what I have seen, the kid actually needs to slow down in my opinion, to see the holes as they open up, and therefore open up his vision a bit. If he is able to do this, and he gets more reps and experience, we might be talking as much about him as we are with Leon. I think that we all better give this kid the benefit of a doubt, and give him a chance, a legitimate chance, to prove himself because Leon Washington, as great as he is, will not be the same guy we have seen in the past because of the severity of his injury.
All I know is Woodhead couldnt play any worse than TJ did vs the Colts. Gotta hold onto this guy until we at least see how Leon shapes up, and figure out how useful TJ is gonna be going forward.
Sanchez may have better accuracy than Vick, but no where near the arm strength Vick has. Vick has a cannon. I'm not saying I want Vick to be our QB, but the dude's got a rocket arm
i dont think its that people hate him i think its that people hate the way some posters swoon over him as if he were wayne chrebet reincarnated. who by the way is COMPLETELY overrated by 90% of us jets fans. its just obnoxious to make a big deal out of a less than marginal player who really hasnt done anything. it creates what appears to be hate for woodhead but i think the anger is misdirected.
