Well it looks as though Law may well be going back 'home' , so we will see him a couple of times next season............... http://patriots.bostonherald.com/patriots/view.bg?articleid=139338
Don't count on it... According to the $16 million, Ty Law was scheduled to undergo a physical with the Patriots as part of a free agent visit. New England $16 million in salary cap space, but Law's reported asking price of $10 million in first-year money is probably not in the Pats' plans.
exactly, I would be in AWE if they signed him. hes just not worth a 10M one yr hit. and for a "team first" organization i would be surprised if they just handed Law the kind of contract he wants. anyone know who else is shootin for him? last iheard it was just NE/TEN/KC
They can have him, he is not worth that kind of money and as for last year he was just in the right place at the right times and he did nothing to really impress me.
Seahawks | Team still interested in Law Tue, 16 May 2006 05:39:24 -0700 Jerome Solomon, of the Boston Globe, reports free agent CB Ty Law's (Jets) agent Carl Poston said the Seattle Seahawks remain in the running to sign Law. The Seahawks have remained in contact with Law even after drafting a cornerback in the first round of the draft. No formal offer has been made by any team and a decision isn't likely to be made soon.
Law is playing several teams against each other. Dont expect anyone to sign him prior to TC. Source: Boston Globe May. 15, 2006 - 10:38 am et Ty Law underwent a physical with the Patriots Friday. Law reportedly passed a physical with the Titans Thursday. The Chiefs and Patriots appear to be the front-runners for Law, who must wish he just signed New England's four-year, $26 million offer two years ago that he felt was insulting. Source: Boston Herald May. 12, 2006 - 8:27 am et Ty Law passed a physical and met with the Titans Thursday. "Once he finishes all his trips, if he wants to sit down, then I think we could get a feel for where we are. We'll just have to see," GM Floyd Reese said. The Titans don't have the cap room to sign Law until they solve Steve McNair's issues. Law is expected to visit with the Chiefs and the Patriots are also interested. Source: Nashville Tennessean May. 11, 2006 - 9:20 am et Chiefs coach Herm Edwards continues to talk to Ty Law. "We’ll talk again. He’ll call me or I’ll call him this week. … If things work out, it would be great," Edwards said in his most revealing quotes on the subject. New England appears to be the only team who could spend as much as the Chiefs on Law. Source: Kansas City Star May. 10, 2006 - 9:15 am et Titans GM Ike Reese has confirmed the team's interest in CB Ty Law. "We’ve got to talk to them and figure out a time to bring him in," Reese said Monday. The Titans will need to cut Steve McNair to sign Law. Source: Nashville City Paper May. 6, 2006 - 11:04 am et GM Carl Peterson says there's no chance of Ty Law becoming a Chief with the corner's current contract demands. "Without dancing all around it, it all gets down to the money," Peterson said. "So far, Ty Law has commanded a great deal of money that he's not worth, quite. When he gets to the point when he says, 'I'll play for a little bit less ...' then we can come together." Source: Topeka Capital-Journal May. 3, 2006 - 10:05 am et Chiefs GM Carl Peterson says a deal with free agent CB Ty Law is not imminent. Coach Herm Edwards says he hasn't spoken to Law in nearly a week. The Titans appear the frontrunner for the play-making cornerback's services, pending Steve McNair's release. Source: Kansas City Star May. 3, 2006 - 9:46 am et CB Ty Law plans to visit the Titans next week. The Browns, Chiefs, and Patriots also have interest in the veteran corner, who is expected to commmand a high price tag. Source: Nashville Tennessean May. 2, 2006 - 12:00 pm et CB Ty Law is interested in joining the Titans but the team can't afford him at this point. That's where getting rid of Steve McNair's $9 million salary should come in. It'd be better sooner than later for the Titans, who are now very thin at the cornerback position. Source: Nashville Tennessean May. 1, 2006 - 11:14 am et Chiefs GM Carl Peterson expects to begin talks with the agent for CB Ty Law Sunday. Kansas City drafted just one corner this weekend, using a fifth-rounder on Marcus Maxey, and still need help at the position. Source: Kansas City Star
Maybe they think he will be good to mentor Cromartie, Just Jokes, He would be a good fit on that team on the otherside of Trufant for another run at the superbowl, he would help out tremendously to help them with the pass happy offenses of the rams and cardinals
Maybe New England is talking to him in order to drive up his price (thus hurting their cap) for whomever finally signs him. I wouldn't put it past BB to pull a stunt like this.
I think there might be some genuine interest. It's been reported that Belichick and Law have had direct contact. No one else in the Patriots organization, or the Postons have been involved.
